"Provider was suppose to return and finish laying sand on the patio. Since job was very close to complete, I paid him rather than wait. I never heard from him again. The sand has since washed out in spots and another provider is correcting the situation with polymeric sand. Other than the sand issue, the patio looks good in the way it is laid out. Provider was punctual, and the project went very fast considering it was in the middle of the winter.

"I worked with Joe fall of 2020 to install a post and wire fence on my property with four board fencing along the road frontage. In bidding the project I reached out to six different fencing contractors in CVille and the surrounding area - Joe was BY FAR the most responsive and easiest to work with. After hashing out the project details via email and phone he promptly did a walk down of the property and generated a bid his prices were competitive with bids I received from the other contractors. On the first day of the install, Joe and his crew did an excellent job walking the project with me to ensure the fence line details were just what I wanted. The back corner of the property is somewhat complex with a stand of trees we wanted to keep intact. This crew did a great job working through the tight space and we were able to keep all the trees. My wife and I are both so pleased with the final result and could not be happier with the aesthetic improvements and function the fencing brought to our property! Joe was timely and supremely easy to work with during the entire process from initial project discussion, bid generation, fence detail negotiations, installation, and quality control/final inspection upon delivery. We can not recommend Joe enough!"

"We had a tree that needed to be removed and talked with them in Sept. There were a few delays and then we had to be out of town for about 6 weeks. The project was put on hold until we returned. The tree fell 4 days after we returned. It took quite a bit of planning and cooperation of neighbors as the tree had been wedged in one of their trees down a rather steep slope. A lot of planning was needed to make this very large oak tree safe. The beech tree it was caught in will hopefully survive as one main branch had to be removed and the other one was cut down closer to the v of the tree. A small crane was brought in so that he could access the tree. Little to no damage happened with the use of this. The clean up was well done and nice small logs were stacked neatly for the neighbors who got lots of wood to burn. They even fixed our chainlink fence that had been bent by a branch that had fallen way before the tree fell. The tree fortunately came down across a small creek and now makes a bridge across it for anyone with decent balance. Way too difficult and expensive to get the very long main trunk out. Enjoyed talking with him after the project was completed. Price was reasonable also."

Fencing questions, answered by experts

Harrisonburg’s rolling hills and clay-heavy soils require careful planning for fence installation, as slopes and drainage patterns impact stability. Mature trees, landscaping, and underground utilities often dictate fence placement. Local zoning regulations, historic district guidelines, and shared property lines with neighbors further influence design choices, making it essential to customize every fencing project to the property’s unique features and legal requirements.

Helpful?

Delaying fence installation in Harrisonburg can lead to increased trespassing, unclear property boundaries, and neighbor disputes, especially near busy neighborhoods or student housing. The area’s humid climate accelerates wood rot, while freeze-thaw cycles can worsen existing fence damage. Waiting too long may also create compliance issues for pool or livestock fencing and make winter installations more challenging due to frozen ground and limited contractor availability.

Helpful?

In Harrisonburg, you’ll find residential fencing contractors experienced with privacy fencing, decorative options, and property boundary solutions using wood, vinyl, or chain link. Commercial and industrial specialists focus on security fencing and high-strength barriers. Agricultural fencing experts handle livestock and horse enclosures, while specialty contractors offer pool fencing, ornamental ironwork, and temporary fencing for construction or events, all tailored to local terrain and property needs.

Helpful?

Fencing in Harrisonburg benefits from a proactive, seasonal maintenance plan. Inspect for winter damage and clean surfaces each spring. In summer, trim vegetation and check for loose hardware. Fall is ideal for sealing or staining wood fences and making repairs before cold weather. During winter, monitor for snow and ice buildup. Vinyl and chain link fences need periodic cleaning and rust checks due to the area’s humidity.

Helpful?

Harrisonburg’s humid subtropical climate, with frequent rain and temperature swings, directly affects fence installation and material choice. Spring and fall are optimal for new projects, while summer humidity and winter freezes can delay work and impact durability. High humidity increases the risk of wood decay, so pressure-treated lumber and galvanized hardware are recommended. Proper drainage and storm-resistant designs help fences withstand local storms and heavy rainfall.
