"Last year I wanted to change my carpet out with hardwood floors. I already had hardwood in the kitchen and foyer. I wanted to replace all the carpet with the same flooring or close to it. After speaking with lumber liquidators, Luna Flooring, Empire and a local shop in VA (that quoted me without a site visit) I decided to go with District floor depot. I stopped in the store on a Wednesday and the following Saturday Mani was at my home for a consult. He was very professional and did not try to upsell me on anything. He suggested the style he thought would be a perfect match and he was right. The following Monday I had a quote in my email. Unfortunately, I was not able to get the floors done so almost a 10 months later I called the store to see if I can get it done and they remember me and had all my information still and was ready to proceed. Heidy was very helpful and stayed in touch with me throughout the project until completion. Even as I changed some of the material and install dates they still was very professional and accommodating. I really like that I did not have to be home during the installation. The installers was prompt and early and did not waste any time getting to work. The team that did my installation worked from the time they got there until they left. And they left my home just as they found it. They cleaned up any mess that was made and took all trash with them. I did not find any trash in or around my home at all. Then to top it all off to get a follow-up call after the installation to make sure I was satisfied with the outcome was also a nice touch. They have a very customer orientated & professional staff overall. My experience was excellent. I highly recommend anyone that is looking to get their floors done to give them a look. I will be using them again myself to do my parents’ home next."

"I didnt like the fact that the tech did not have on shoe covers and he walked all over the rooms that were being treated. I did not appreciate that at all. And when I asked why he wasnt wearing them, he said he was going to back out of the living room to the outside so he couldnt walk on the carpet when he was done. Not acceptable. It appeared as if my concern was of little importance to him. Because he didnt have on shoe covers, i had to unplug the machine for him when he was done. Also, the carpet smelled sour after cleaning instead of fresh. perhaps the machine where the water was being held needed to be cleaned. As for the furniture, he did remove some light stains from the seat cushions, but the back pillows were not nearly cleaned to my satisfaction. I wont be using them again. All I saw was plain water coming out of the house to clean the carpet and chairs."

"Great pricing, did a perfect job for replacing my old carpet. I ended up hiring them to replace my basement's carpet in addition to my 2nd floor. Highly recommend them."

""The house looks better now than it did brand new! --what our realtor said when he saw the house. It was a pleasure to work with Mr. Zavala. He was flexible with our schedule as we had a delay, and worked very hard to finish as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of his work, so that we could get the house on the market. We worked together to pick out carpet to match the paint, and it was a perfect match. When they were done, they vacuumed the home and didn't leave a trace of trash anywhere. My only regret in working with Mr. Zavala is not using his cleaning services. I thought the price for a whole house cleaning at $450 sounded expensive, but in the end that would have been the perfect price to clean the whole house. I would not hesitate to hire Mr. Zavala again. Thank you, William Zavala for making our home beautiful again!!"

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

A transition piece between carpet stairs and wood flooring isn't always necessary. A transition piece separates two types of flooring in between rooms and areas, like carpet and vinyl. Because the carpet on the stairs tucks into the seam, you can’t see the fringes, and there is no need to hide anything. However, you can use a stair cap if your stairs have a nose.

Some flooring companies recycle old carpet after replacing it. The broader flooring industry has been moving toward recycling more carpet material. However, whether an individual carpet gets recycled is up to the flooring company that removes it. When gathering quotes for new flooring in your area, ask each company about removal options and what they do with the material.

Taking carpet off stairs is an easy but multi-step process you can usually do yourself. If you have the right tools, time, and oomph to finish the job, removing carpet from stairs can be an easy-to-medium difficulty task, depending on your stairs, the type of carpet installed, and how willing you are to get your hands dirty. It’s important to review the process, gather the right tools before you begin, and follow a tutorial or directions while you work.

The cost to install carpet is $1,780 on average for 330 square feet, the size of an average living room. This cost could range from $200 to $5,000, depending on the amount of carpet, material, and type of carpet.

If you need 500 square feet of carpet, it’ll cost $1,500 to $5,500, while 1,000 square feet of carpet costs $3,000 to $11,000. Polyester is one of the more affordable options, ranging from $1 to $3 per square foot. Wool is a more luxurious option, ranging from $4 to $20 per square foot

A stair runner can be cheaper than a carpet and will definitely save money over the cost of refinishing hardwood floors and stairs. The price depends, however, on the fabric and quality of the runner. A wool stair runner can be more expensive than an inexpensive polyester carpet and vice versa. Keep an eye on your budget, knowing that the higher quality the carpet and the carpet pad, the better the carpet will wear over time.
