"This is a great company. These people are very professional and very experienced in their craft. I needed a house cleaner and Maria came quickly and did a wonderful job cleaning my house. I have hired her to do my house cleaning. Her husband was able to fix my back French doors, the frames were rotting and needing to be replaced. He did this and painted the frame and the doors. He also painted several doors in the upstairs leading to closets. Everything was done with care and looks brand new. I would recommend them for any project you are thinking about having done. They are honest and reliable!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Many homeowners have successfully retiled a bathroom themselves. It can be a challenging but rewarding process, but it’s best for someone who already has at least intermediate DIY skills.

The best bathroom floor tiles are strong enough to withstand the weight of a clawfoot tub. However, professional tile installation is essential. If the tiles are uneven or improperly fixed, they may crack under the pressure. Be careful when installing the tub—if it drops or drags on the tiles, it could easily cause scratches or cracks.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

When cleaning porcelain tiles, avoid products that contain ammonia, bleach, and other harsh chemicals. Acid-based cleansers can damage the tile, though you can clean them with a diluted mixture of one-quarter cup white vinegar mixed with one gallon of hot water. It is important always to use a soft-bristled brush or sponge, since hard bristles and steel wool can scratch the tile.

Installations typically take 1-3 days, depending on area size; repairs are usually completed sooner if the issue is localized.
