Terrible! They went out of business (bankruptcy) after they got our down payment!

Scamming several people out of deposits in Virginia. 3 days into job, pulled out and closed shop, $23,000 lost.

They filed for bankruptcy in NC! Signed with them in April, and they said they would start end of May, didn't start until mid-July, and barely showed up to do the work. They left me with a gutted bathroom and unfinished kitchen. They claimed to need payments to purchase my materials, but did not purchase the materials.

We live in NC and we hired Better Home Improvements to remodel our bathroom and add a fireplace to our four seasons room. The total for the project was $64,500 and we paid them a down payment in the amount of $15,750. The fireplace was the first project and was being done by the owner, Tracy White's, son. He was young and was doing a poor job and had no supervision from the company. We cancelled our job for the bathroom remodel based on the quality of the fireplace job. We did not receive a refund for the deposit amount for the bathroom remodel and after several attempts to reach the owner, Tracy White, we received no reply. After one week on the job of the fireplace they sent an email saying they would not be coming back and would send us a statement for how much the would refund us minus their expenses. We never received an email or response to several attempts by phone, email and certified mail. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR. We found out they are not licensed in the state of North Carolina, they have taken our money and committed contract fraud.

It’s been 10 days now since they finished and everything is still perfect. I have never had a contractor before who started when they said, did what they said, and finished when they said with barely a hiccup. When a problem arose - although not their fault - they took charge and made it right and worth my while. Excellent company, management and workers. Very professional and excellent workmanship. I’d hire them again in a second!

The work was performed professionally and on schedule. There were several issues due to age of the house that were solved with innovative solutions that brought the whole project together. We are very happy with every aspect of the project, especially the end result.

I had Better Home Improvements featuring Better Baths and Kitchens to do a complete remodel of our home. This was the first time my wife and I had major construction work done on our home. Tracy White assured us during our initial consultation that we would be highly impressed with the work that was performed and the project would be done with the least amount of effort on our part necessary as the home owners. He was absolutely correct! We had our kitchen and bathrooms remolded, new flooring installed throughout our home. Tracy’s crew are absolute professionals and great at what they do! My wife and I had such a pleasant experience and loved the work done so much I hired Tracy and his crew back the following year to install siding and paint the exterior of our house. My wife and I are more than satisfied and never get board of all the compliments from our family and neighbors!

Better Home Improvement - Better Bathrooms and Kitchens did a fabulous job on redoing two vintage bathrooms. Everything was torn out and rebuilt or replaced. They were there every day, they worked the whole time, they cleaned up after themselves. They consulted me on where to put towel racks, shelves, and mirrors. They did one bathroom at a time so we had use of the facilities. I just can’t say enough about how efficient, pleasant, and thorough they were. Yes, I would use them again and I have already consulted with them on a couple of other projects.

Still in progress, work is not complete but it’s coming together smoothly. Any issues or questions that I have had during the process have been addressed immediately open line of communication is perfect. This is a very large job is crews have showed up when they said they were going to be here, and as we have made changes throughout the process everyone is more than helpful.

It was one of the best experiences I have ever had. We have owned three homes and have had work performed by other companies. We have never encountered the professionalism in twenty -five years as homeowners like we experienced working with Tracy White and his crew.

Mr. White shows up and after lenghty conversation asks for deposit of $17,000 and promises to start work in early October 2019. When he mails the contract the next day it says start late October. He calls for two additional meetings after which he says he can't start until after the first of the year. I tell him that is not acceptable and want the deposit refunded. He agrees and has yet to refund any money. He promised two dates to pay and has not done so. He has spent the money becasue he said in a text that he was working on securing funds. Run from this scam artist.

I would have to give BB&K 5/5 stars just because of the finished product. It was a rough start and took an extra-long time but overall, I’m thrilled with the results and expect to have them come back for more work. This started out as a kitchen remodel and turned into so much more. For starters, I had them put in new tile flooring throughout half my house (a double-wide). They also adjusted the roof over my back porch so that it slanted AWAY from my house so that when it rains, the rain no longer comes in thru my back door! During the job, I asked for and received 3 new windows and a new back door, which was not that easy since this IS a double-wide and requires special doors. For the new windows in my dining room, I asked for a real windowsill and Bill built it for me. In fact, Bill was so awesome that it would take a book to sing his praises! Not only is he professional and well-educated in his field but in many other ‘fields’ as well! I learned quite a bit during the whole process and I’m no novice at home ownership. All this was on top of a rather large remodel already with all new appliances, all new cabinets throughout the kitchen and laundry space, granite countertops and bar in addition to new lighting overhead and under cabinets. I chose some seriously different backsplash tiling which Bill did, not only a very professional job installing, but added some creativity of his own. He’s a perfectionist, which I just love! In addition to the main project, I asked for and received some extra handy-man help as I live alone and am a bit handicapped as well. The end result of all the time and effort is that my home is not only in a great state of repair (no more sagging floors and collapsing cabinets) but I am more organized than I could have thought possible. Remodeling is always a stressful condition and issues arise inevitably. With BB&K, all issues were addressed and resolved. I am now proud of my ‘new’ home!

Many problems, ranging from significantly out of square shower surround to badly angled shower rod to leaking pipes. We were assured all would be fixed and done right...and didn't hear from them again for months. Couldn't even turn shower on due to water leaks.

I paid half down. They set a date for work one month later. Requested refund and received it weeks after requesting. They did send refund at last so we are square.

Better Bathrooms and Kitchens came to my house to give estimate for insulation.  Took check for 1/2 and immediately cashed. Never got back to me on date of work to start.  After several tries finally asked for my money back.  It has been 15+ days since requested.  Filed complaint with BBB.

Excellent workmanship and the workers were craftsmen. We had a very good experience with them- all the way from the initial contact of their Estimator to finishing up so that all of the specifications in our contract with them were met. We think that they are a high quality company that provided excellent work that was well priced.

We had the main bathroom and master bathroom completely remodeled.  
Removed tiles, tub, flooring, toilet and vanity in main bathroom.  Replaced the tub and tiles with a new liner and ceiling plate along with safety grab bars, vinyl molding around window and corner shelves.  Installed new vanity, counter top, vinyl flooring, hardware, lights,  mirror, toilet, new plumbing where needed and painted the walls and ceiling in the remainder of the bathroom.  
In the master bathroom, same thing, removed the tiles, flooring, toilet and vanity.  Installed a new shower liner and ceiling plate, bench, safety grab bars, vinyl flooring, toilet, vanity and top, new plumbing, lights, mirror, exhaust fan, and painted the walls and ceiling.
The job started within a week of the estimated date and completed in the time frame promised.  There were a few things that popped up during the job that were handled quickly and satisfactorily.  The office was quick to get back to us when we had questions or concerns.
The installer, Steve, did an awesome job and obviously takes great pride in his work.  We were very happy with the outcome of the job.

I had hired 2 previous contractors from Home Advisors .The first one knocked a hole in the shower  floor and was never seen again for 3 weeks so I assumed he abandoned the job . The next guy made lots of promises but after paying him $450.00 for an even bigger hole in my floor, I realized the job was beyond his capabilities so he and my money never returned. I met Terry and Troy at the Home Show and told them  my dilemma and made clear my expectations . They came out , measured the job and we settled on a price and I was told the job would be done in 5 days . After my previous bad experiences , I had my reservations but I couldn't live with a hole in my floor any longer  so I signed the contract. . Kenny and Jacob came to my house on Monday 11/2/15 , they demo'ed the shower , protected the floors with drop clothes,carried everything away and swept up , Kenny was alone for the rest of the week , arriving on time or letting me know when he was on the way. He was polite , neat and clean. I felt comfortable having him in my house . He worked steadily everyday ,all day and would discuss his progress with me . He did an excellent job and was able to accommodate all my requests. The office checked in with me a few times to see that everything was going well and my salesman came out one day to check on the progress. I must say I was completely satisfied with the work that was done and it was completed as promised in 5 days . I now have a complete shower with seat,shelves, grab bars and  sliding glass doors.

This company was very professional from start to finish. The products they used were the highest quality, Kohler tub and shower pan, Delta faucets. Both bathrooms were pretty big projects. The two installers, Steve and John were very very nice and worked very hard to finish our project in 7 days. We felt we got an excellent deal for the price based on bids from competitors.They took great care to protect the floors in the surrounding rooms from dust and damage.
The only negative thing I can say is that they usually did not arrive until very late morning due to having to wait at their warehouse for parts. This meant they stayed until at least 7pm every night, usually without a break, which was later then we would have liked. I would suggest to their management that they should consider having another person(s) to  get the needed parts ahead of time instead of wasting the time of the installers. I felt they were very rushed, but they did do a great job.
