"Mike is very friendly and easy to talk to. He and his team did a nice job on the floor and stem wall. I had a DIY epoxy that was done about 15 years ago and it was failing in spots. Took them few hours to prep the floor with a diamond grinder and fill in some chips. Done in two days. Now it looks great. Not more to say.....it is a garage floor."

"The end result of my garage floor is fantastic. Based on my experience, I'm very glad I didn't do it myself with a kit from the big box stores. For the cost (very reasonable) I think getting a floor epoxied is best left to the pros."

"It went really well. I needed two large rooms done (removing carpet and installing laminate floors I had already purchased). I had put in a request on Angie’s for a quote and I received a call right away. Mario was able to come over the same day and give me an estimate. It was almost half of what I had received from other floor install companies. They were able to schedule me in right away. And the job was done in one day. The floors look great! No complains."

Epoxy Flooring questions, answered by experts

Outdoor kitchens get wet and are sometimes next to pools. To avoid accidents, go with a non-slip material like concrete, brick, or rubber. Avoid materials like ceramic and porcelain, as they are known to be quite slippery. Wood and composite flooring can be slippery if untreated, so make sure to stain or finish these materials.

It’s important to weigh the advantages and disadvantages of epoxy garage floor coatings. Consider the following pros and cons of this garage addition, including the following:

Pros:

  • Increased visibility

  • Durability

  • Long lifespan

  • Low maintenance

  • Versatile appearance

  • More sustainable

Cons:

  • Strong odor when applying

  • Difficult to remove

  • Can be slippery

  • Possible bubbles and blisters

  • Temperature sensitive while curing

The amount of paint needed to cover a two-car garage floor depends on the surface area and the product's coverage rate. On average, a standard two-car garage floor measures 400 to 500 square feet. Coverage ranges from 100 to 200 square feet per gallon for epoxy paint, depending on the product and application method. After some quick math, you may need 2 to 5 gallons of epoxy paint with two coats to cover a two-car garage floor.

Other garage floor concrete sealers besides epoxy include solvent-based acrylic and polyacrylic sealers, quick-drying polymer or polyurethane sealers, and scratch-resistant polyurea floor coatings that are ideal for exterior applications. These sealants come in basic clear forms and more decorative options, varying in price accordingly.

Evenly wetting a wood floor before applying a stain is called water popping. It raises the grain and opens the wood’s pores to absorb more stain. When done properly, it can make the stain look darker and deeper. However, it’s important to evenly wet the floor and let it dry before applying the stain.
