Customers say: Quick response

"James "Rodney" Francioni did clean the gutters on July 7, 21. I had some problems in the front of the house regarding the rain water running down in case of severe down pours into my flower boxes and in front of my bay window. He flushed out the gutters, however the problem still existed. He did, however, come back on July 22, 2021, took off the leaf guards (said they did not work anymore because they did not let any water run through) and tried to arrange the gutters so they are pointing more downward . It worked for the flower boxes but on extreme severe downpours the gutters still overflow over the bay window. Mr. Francioni was very helpful, polite, and did not charge for the second visit on July 22, 2021. Astrid Hicks"

"The two handymen arrived on time as scheduled. Were very courteous and professional. The job took a good eight hours, they never complained. Were very tolerable of the fact that I have 3 dogs, and had to put up with their barking whenever I let the dogs out. The area where they worked was cleaned up after they completed the job. The bill was presented with the exact costs quoted to me the day before when they came to view the job."

"I hired Victor to reglaze windows on the 2nd floor of a historic home. he was prompt, reasonably priced and cleaned up afterwards. No problems at all, and he replaced a broken pane. I did have some follow on work for him, but after 3 messages, have not received a call back, so need to get someone else."

I am an Ex food industry worker that was fed up with the grind and hustle. I have started cleaning houses, gutters, junk removal, yards, move ins and outs. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. My dream is to make this my full time job to help take care of my wife and kids.

Gutter Cleaning questions, answered by experts

Downspouts channel water from your roof and gutters into the ground following a specific route so water doesn’t accumulate around your house’s foundation. Without a downspout, the standing water will wash away material and disrupt the soil, leading to foundation erosion. The standing water will also form ice around your house during cold weather, causing a safety hazard.

Walking on the roof to clean gutters is unsafe and not recommended due to significant safety risks. It is especially dangerous on steep or slippery roofs, or if the roof is wet or covered in leaves, which increases the chance of a fall. In addition to personal injury, walking on the roof can damage shingles, potentially leading to water leaks. Instead of walking on the roof, use a sturdy ladder positioned on a stable surface to access the gutters. Be aware that using a ladder also carries risks, as it can be difficult to maintain balance while performing the work. You can also use ground-based cleaning tools. For safety reasons and to prevent damage to your roof, hiring a professional to clean your gutters is the best and safest option.

If you want to avoid burying your downspouts, several alternatives can help direct water away from your home's foundation. One option is to connect a rain barrel to your downspout. During a storm, the barrel collects water that you can later use for irrigating your lawn or garden. Another common solution is to install an above-ground downspout extension. This can be done in a couple of ways:

  • Splash Guards: Placing a splash guard, available at most hardware stores, under your downspout can act as a simple funnel to direct water away from the house.

  • Downspout Extensions: You can add an extension to the end of the downspout's elbow to carry water further into your yard. Some extensions are flexible, allowing you to maneuver them around landscaping.

These above-ground solutions are particularly useful if your home has a slab foundation that you cannot dig up. However, they have limitations. An extension may not move water as far from your home as an underground system. More importantly, if your yard slopes back toward your house, these methods will be ineffective, and burying your downspouts remains the best option to prevent potential flooding and water damage.

Properly installed gutters should be able to function normally in heavy rains. Allowing water to overflow can cause water damage around your home's basement or foundation. If the overflow is caused by a simple clog, paying a gutter cleaning cost of $125 to $250 may be enough to get the gutters running clear again. If there's a larger issue, you may need to repair or replace your gutters.

Yes, gutters can still get clogged even with gutter guards installed. While guards significantly reduce the amount of debris that enters your gutters, they are not 100% effective.

Small debris such as pine needles, seedlings, algae, small leaves, and pebbles can pass through the guard's screen or mesh and accumulate over time. Clogs can also form if the guards themselves are not cleaned and become overwhelmed with debris on top, preventing water from entering the gutter.

If this buildup is neglected, it can lead to clogs, water leaks, mold growth, and even plants sprouting from the gutters. The primary benefit of gutter guards is not the complete elimination of maintenance, but a dramatic reduction in how often you need to perform it, often from several times a year to just once a year or less.
