"We hired Sixpenny because we needed an urgent cleaning done on our newly purchased house after burning one fire and they said they could be at our house within 2 days, but only provided a 4 hour time window (12pm-4pm), requiring me to take the day off of work and stay home. The day comes with gusty winds which slowed down all of their appointments that day. This would not have been a major problem in itself if the company communicated that to me proactively, but by 3pm I called to confirm we were still on the list to be cleaned. By 4pm I called and was informed that the cleaner was on his way, at 4:30 I called again was told he was still on his way but no known estimated arrival time. Finally arrived shortly after 5pm, rushed through the cleaning as quick as he could, wasn't really able to answer any questions about how to reduce the fireplace smell in the house, from the concrete slab or from the hardwood floors and left in less than an hour. I understand he had a long day and was slowed by the weather, but the lack of proactive communication to keep us in the loop, as well as the limited knowledge either possessed or shared, is why I rated this company lower."

"Wow! Amazing service. I must've called 8 different places in a panic trying to get the brick mounts which hold the mantel removed from my old fireplace so the surface could be prepped for a new TV. Seemed like an easy task (I thought), but it was a little more meticulous than I thought. I called this team and they arrived same day! Incredible customer service and expertise. Not only did they return the day after providing an estimate and remove the brick mounts, they actually re-fabricated the brick to make the holes disappear! This team knows their stuff!! I was so impressed that in the Spring I'd like them to come and do some masonry work for me. Highly recommend. "Chimney/fireplace cleaning and inspection was performed at our house. Julio was really personable, prompt, trustworthy and knowledgable. He recommended some things to us, including one that he said he could do for us, but that we could also do ourselves. He sent photos of the areas he cleaned and inspected, inside and out and higher up the chimney, and a detailed report of what needed to be done and what could wait. The price was below what other estimates showed. We will use him again and would definitely recommend him to others."

"The American Chimney people were friendly, competent and efficient. However, just like earlier this year when I had an appliance person come out to check my refrigerator, I paid $89.10 as I did another $89.10 for the gas fireplace. neither professional was able to meet my needs. The appliance guy said yes the fridge compressor was the problem but I should stay with company I purchased it from to keep the warranty. The chimney guy did not work on gas fireplaces, said I should call the company manufacturer for check. He did check chimney and said fireplace flame appeared low. When I requested a gas fireplace professional I expected someone who was qualified in all aspects of gas fireplace check, repair and able to even add a remote if possible. I have requested an insulation check of my attic but now Iâ m going to cancel. They will probably come and check insulation and I will have to pay $89.10 for them to tell me I need to call an insulation company for additional insulation if required. So no I will no use home advisor again."
