"Buzz came in and got rid of the clog. He also informed me that the toilets that had been installed in the condo were notorious for clogging. As a result, I purchased a toilet auger and I am taking preventive measures to avoid problems in the future."

Small jobs welcome

I like what I do. Always something different, and always meeting new people. I've been doing plumbing/handyman services for over 35 years, and I still learn something almost every day. My work has carried me all over Virginia, and my customers have always called me for more work when they needed it.\nI like that. If I don't know something, I'll find out, or, I'll pass it on to someone who knows. \n I'm not afraid to bet you'll be happy with whatever I do for you.

"They arrived within 30 minutes of my contacting them through Angii, then called me for a brief synopsis of the job. Two plumbers came to the house, looked at the work to be done, went out for a part (mine is a very old toilet, and parts are sometimes not "on the truck." With 15 minutes of their return, the job was done! Good timing, good work, good customer relations!"

"I highly recommend RCR Plumbing! José and Carlos were amazing?professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. They replaced a toilet and repaired a section of sewer line under my house. They responded quickly, completed the work efficiently, and kept everything clean inside my home. Their pricing was extremely fair, and the quality of their work was excellent. I?ll definitely call them again for any future plumbing needs!"

Toilets questions, answered by experts

While gasket-sealed PVC flanges are the type most commonly found in homes, flanges come in a range of different materials, including copper, brass, stainless steel, cast iron, and aluminum, that pros sometimes secure with glue. If this is the case in your bathroom, the replacement is a job better left to the pros.

You’ll likely pay between $300 and $450 to unclog your toilet with Roto-Rooter. However, the price could change depending on if the clog has caused a lot of damage, which your plumbing pro will want to inspect during your service appointment. Keep in mind that you won’t get a quote from Roto-Rooter over the phone. They have to send a pro out for an in-person cost estimate. You can also attempt to snake your own clog for a lot less, and simple drain snakes cost no more than $50.

A high pitch noise after flushing is likely caused by the fill valve being clogged with debris. You can repair this and eliminate the noise by removing the fill valve from the tank, and then cleaning the valve screen. Place the clean fill valve back in the tank and flush as normal.

The normal water level in a toilet bowl is about halfway full. The water should sit above the P trap drain because this creates a seal and suction. When you flush the toilet, the suction keeps sewer gases from entering your house through your toilet. Anytime the water level is higher or lower than half full, you need to make adjustments or replace broken parts.

Basement toilets don’t always need a pump. However, it is the most common setup because plumbing systems use gravity to move waste away from the home. Basement toilets often sit below the home’s main sewage system, and installing a sewage ejector pump pushes the wastewater and sewage up to the main sewer line. Alternatively, you can use an upflush or macerator toilet that breaks down the waste and pushes it straight to the main sewer line rather than via a sewer line from the bathroom.
