"I had numerous small, but complicated, home repairs and installations that needed expert craftsmanship. Jim the Handyman provided a specialist for each small project who performed work of exceptionally high quality. Every project was completed quickly, efficiently, and to the most exacting standards. Every team member was highly professional, but also friendly, courteous, and very respectful of my home. In addition, working with the front office team was easy and pleasant, and scheduling was a breeze. I will be directing all my future home repair and installation needs to Jim the Handyman. I cannot recommend any other organization more highly."
"We were delighted with the outcome of the installation of a new surround on our fireplace. This was a re-do of an initial installation by another contractor that did not work out too well! I was nervous about getting this done right and Kevin put me at ease immediately. He was precise, highly skilled, and very aware that we were not happy with the first installation. It turned out beautifully."
Hello!!! I’m Alex Ruffing, welcome to my page! \n\nI’m a born & raised Northern Virginian with 19 years in construction services (and counting). I started young, with family, on area commercial jobs; Wolftrap, Metro Garages and Park & Rides, and many of our shopping plazas. Then spent some time traveling the east coast building in the industrial sector; concrete, sky rises. Now I am happy to be home and operating as a Handyman(+). \n\nHandyman because I mostly operate independently, preforming all kinds of repair and remodeling opportunities. \n(+) because I am well connected with reputable tradespeople in the area, and I always happy to discuss larger residential projects; backyard pavilions, outdoor kitchens, shotcrete pools, additions, movie theaters, bars, and wine cellars. \n\nMy cell phone is (571)320-8605. Do not hesitate to call or text so we can discuss solutions regarding your home’s next repair, remodel, or improvement. \n\nWith best wishes, thank you. I look forward to hearing from you.\n\n
"Bobby did a great job installing my new toilet. He was kind enough to wrap the old toilet in plastic to remove from my house to prevent anything from getting dirty by the residual water. The new toilet looks great and operates well! I'm a satisfied customer!"
"I would give CIC 6 stars if the system allowed. Christian and his associate were able to assemble the bed, TV console, lift-top coffee table, and so much more. They did the work quickly and everything worked perfectly. We were so happy that when we purchased more furniture that needed assembling the next day, we called him and he was able to fit us right in. Fair prices and great customer service. I highly recommend them."
"Beyond my expectations! The old door was condensing inside and out, we knew there would be extensive damage to the wood framing and floor area beneath. It was worse than I expected. Mike installed the new door, created a way for our pet door to fit while still being able to LOCK the slider! Over three days - the tear out, purchasing of many materials, repairing the frame, installing the new door, repainting/restoring the interior and exterior to BETTER than they previously appeared, and rigging that new and improved pet door - he worked diligently. I have never had a workman that was so neat! Cleaning up debris, bagging trash, maintaining the work area organized and safe. I have already recommended him to friends, and they have all said how great he was! I have many other projects planned, and will not hesitate to call Home Remedies again."
"Mark was fantastic! He arrived on time, very pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient in his installation of our new living room fan and light combo. He was able to provide an accurate estimate from the photos and descriptions I provided prior to his arrival. He protected our floors, and furniture, and left no mess. I was so pleased with his work that I’ve offered him another project to do in our home. I give Mark my highest personal recommendation!"
"He called and set up a time and came on time. Of course I was surprised that I needed so much work done. I would hire him again Thanks for saving us from the heat"
"I had an excellent experience with Kevin. He installed a very large and complex crystal chandelier in our foyer, and the entire process was handled with exceptional professionalism and precision. This was not a simple installation, the chandelier is heavy, intricate, and required careful assembly and mounting at a significant height, but he approached the job with patience, attention to detail, and clear expertise.
He took the time to ensure every component was perfectly aligned and secure, and the final result looks absolutely stunning. The installation was done safely, efficiently, and with great care for our home.
I would highly recommend him to anyone needing electrical work, especially for challenging or high-end lighting installations. Truly outstanding workmanship."
Mud tubes, wood damage, and swarming are typical indicators.
Armadillos have very strong smelling capabilities to track down insects efficiently. But this superpower is actually a double-edged sword because their extreme sense of smell also causes them to be more sensitive and deterred by strong odors. To keep them at bay, you can place small amounts of substances like vinegar, ammonia, and mothballs around your property and near armadillo hotspots.
Although you can technically flood an armadillo out of its hole, it’s important to remember that this can be potentially fatal to the animal. Armadillos sleep between 16 and 18 hours a day, and if you perform this technique while they’re deep in sleep, they may not awake soon enough to save themselves.
Trees that provide a habitat to bats and an abundance of bugs—their main food source—will attract bats to your yard. Because the North American landscape has changed so much in recent years, bats have a harder time finding trees with cavities to shelter in. If your yard has a dead or dying tree with a lot of sun exposure, bats will likely be drawn to it because trees with those features are less common.
Tree sap is not usually dangerous to humans or pets. But some trees do produce dangerous sap. Notably, ash, birch, cedar and similar saps can irritate the skin but aren’t dangerous. Sap from trees like the Brazilwood, Mahogany, Milky Mangrove or well-named Poison Walnut can be corrosive, cause nausea, or trigger those with asthma. But for most backyard trees, protective equipment like a sturdy pair of gloves should be fine.
Stay calm and avoid acting like a threat. Avoid swatting at the wasps or yelling, which will agitate wasps and make them more likely to attack. Instead, move away at a slow, steady pace in one direction, getting as much distance between you and the wasps as possible.
Wasps swarm to protect their nest, so moving far away indicates you are not a threat and they should subside. Do not try to handle a wasp nest filled with agitated wasps. Wait until they call down before you take action, or trust in a professional.
