"As I was leaving for work the garage door would not open. At 6:30 in the morning, we were able to contact Precision Garage Door and schedule a technician to come out the same day. The technician, Trenton Brown, was able to come in and walk me through what was damaged and in need of repair and was upfront with the costs of repair and replacement. Once he was finished with the repair and replacement, he then showed me the how to process, step by step on how to use the new opener. The best way to prevent your garage door from freezing is to install a permanent source of heat in the garage. You can have a professional tie in your main heating system or install a ductless mini split as a standalone heating solution. You can also insulate the garage to prevent temperatures from dropping to the point that the door freezes shut.

When you’re painting a garage floor, it’s best to use a combination of rollers and brushes. You’ll want to start with a brush, making a border around the edges where the floor meets the wall. From there you can use a roller, though some people also like to do the entire first coat with a brush because it’s easier to work the paint into the textured concrete.

You do not need to drywall over most types of garage insulation. However, doing so can increase noise reduction, make the space more attractive, and keep children and pets from touching harmful fiberglass insulation. If you’re using cellulose or some other type of blown-in insulation (fiberglass and mineral wool are common), you will need drywall to contain the insulation material.

A prefab, or prefabricated garage, requires far less construction work than one with a foundation and frame, but it’s not nearly as desirable and may not be a worthwhile option. A prefabricated garage won’t be as durable or long-lasting, and it doesn’t provide the same protection for your belongings and vehicles. Plus, you can use a standard garage for more uses—like living space—whereas a prefab garage only serves as a space for storage. Lastly, building a traditional garage will add to your home value, while a prefab garage usually won’t.

We recommend plywood and solid wood. Particleboard and MDF (medium-density fiberboard) are often too weak to hold significant loads, and could sag or deform under pressure. Plywood or solid wood are meant to last, and can handle the weight of several large items. If you want to spend a little more for a moisture-resistant material, you can consider using steel.
