"As part of finishing the basement, I had asbestos removed from a 1928 house.  It was easier to remove the asbestos by demolishing the old ductwork, plus we wanted new ductwork with a lower profile.  My contractor brought in 3 companies for a bid.  Just Right wasn't the least expensive, but you could tell they "got it".  They knew we intended to finish the basement, and looked for ways to help maximize headroom.  They did a great job in keeping the ductwork neat and tight.  They ran new exaust vents for the dryer and for a new bathroom.  They also had to fashion custom connections between the new ductwork and the upstairs vents -- large in wall vents, not the 12" floor registers you'd find in new homes.  The did a great job, and were able to work on short notice.  They added new ductwork the day after the old asbestos ductwork was removed, so the house was not without heat for long.

"We had them put in a gas line for stovetop and fireplace conversion. While we had issues getting the fireplace line in. There was a cost overrun. They worked with us to share the cost. I got a call from them also offer to fix our drywall, since it was more extensive. This was not included in the price, but I appreciate the call and offer."

"I couldn’t be happier with the plumbing services from Express Home Services! From the moment I called, their team was professional, responsive, and courteous. The plumber arrived on time, clearly explained the issue, and quickly resolved a major leak under our sink. The quality of work was top-notch, and they left everything clean and tidy afterward. What impressed me most was their honesty—no upselling, just straightforward solutions at a fair price. It's rare to find such trustworthy and efficient service these days. I highly recommend Express Home Services to anyone needing fast, reliable plumbing help. They’ve earned my trust, and I’ll definitely call them again for future home needs. A++ service all the way!"

French Drains questions, answered by experts

Yes, sewage smells can originate from a floor drain. If the P-Trap in the floor drain dries out or if there's a clog or other issue in the plumbing system, sewer gasses can escape through the drain, causing nasty odors. Regularly pouring water into the drain helps maintain the water seal and prevent those smells, but if the smell persists, you should have a plumbing professional inspect the drain for potential problems.

DIY is not recommended due to safety risks and specialized equipment requirements. Hire professionals for effective clearing.

Some experts estimate that descaling your cast iron pipes can extend their lifetime by upwards of 50 years, although there’s not a lot of research to prove it. But we do know that without proper maintenance, cast iron pipes can quickly rust—leading to more expensive issues like burst pipes or main line clogs.

If your kitchen is flooding, first turn off the water supply and electricity before entering the room. Next, focus on immediate flood control by cleaning up any standing water with a sump pump or wet-dry vacuum to prevent long-term water damage to your home. Open your windows and run any dehumidifiers you have handy. Finally, call a professional plumber to help find the source of the flood and repair it.

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.
