"If you get Miguel as your patch guy then youâ re in great hands. Such a kind man. He was there on time, every day. We had quite the project going on so his promptness was appreciated. If youâ re inclined, heâ s great at working and chatting or heâ s good to be left on his own. I would recommend Patch Master to anybody! I was looking for plaster workers on Angieâ s List and they were the first on the list! Within 3 min of me putting my info down Kenzie contacted me, I sent photos of what needed repairs and I got a quote later (15 min later). Couldnâ t be more pleased."

"Miguel did an outstanding job and even though there were surprises for him (it's an old house), there were none for us - he finished in the timeframe he bid. We had question on the finish of the wood - Miguel made a special trip to bring us a sample. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome."

Small jobs welcome

"We had an EXCELLENT experience with Ismerio Drywall. Humberto, in particular, was a great project manager. The office staff were very good and professional. As with most contractors there are "bumps along the way", but in the end ALL things were done to our expectations and they didn't stop until the job was done to our 100% satisfaction. I would highly recommend them. All the workers were kind and friendly and hardworking. They did: drywall, insulation and framing for us to include: mud, tape, and texture of all walls and ceilings. They helped us finish our 1800+ square foot basement and we plan to use them for any future projects."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

You will be placing holes in the wall to hang the mounting bracket. If you’re mounting a large TV, the bolts in use could make significant holes around half an inch in diameter. Other than a few holes, though, the process of mounting the TV should not cause significant damage to the wall, unless you make an error and miss the wall stud, tearing out drywall. Should you decide to remove the mount later, the DIY drywall repair cost for a small hole usually is $10 to $30. It’s a repair you can do in a few minutes.

You can technically just paint over hairline cracks in plaster since these cracks are often harmless, but this will mostly be a waste of paint. Paint will only hide the hairline crack for a few months before it shows up again. The best solution is to repair the crack with flexible filler or joint compound before repainting.

Yes, you can apply new plaster over an existing plaster surface, such as a wall or ceiling, provided the old plaster is in good condition. Before you begin, check the stability of the existing plaster. The surface must be clean, free of loose material, and have no peeling paint. It is also recommended to roughen the surface slightly to promote adhesion. For older plaster, applying a base coat like a PVA emulsion or a specific bonding agent or primer is crucial. This step makes the existing plaster less porous and ensures the new and old layers adhere properly for a smooth, long-lasting finish.

Yes, you can speed up the time it takes for plaster to dry, but it's important to do so carefully to avoid issues like cracking or crumbling. Proper ventilation is key; open a window or use a fan to circulate air in the room. Heat can also accelerate drying, but be cautious, as too much heat can cause the plaster to dry too quickly and crack. Check the plaster's packaging for the recommended drying temperature and set the room's thermostat accordingly. While managing humidity is important, avoid using a dehumidifier, which can remove moisture too aggressively and result in crumbly plaster.

Your walls are likely cracking due to fluctuations in the temperature outside. Drywall tends to expand and contract when temperatures and humidity levels change, and this repeated movement can lead to cracks in your walls, particularly around door frames. If you have multiple diagonal cracks, you may want to have your foundation inspected, as cracks can also be a sign of a bigger issue.
