"Malcolm was on time, did exactly what I needed, even did some extra gate repair that I hadn't noticed and cleaned up everything before leaving. Rate was more than reasonable since it was over 90 degrees outside!"

"The work was great quality when completed. It was a small patch in the ceiling where a pipe had broken, an area of about 2 feet by 1 1/2 ft. I spoke with the company initially on Oct 9, but due to a busy schedule and some unfortunate van problems, it ended up being 2 weeks before the work could be done. But great work when it was!!"

"John is not the Cheapest but he is the best. He knows his trade and is very professional. He made three trips to three different suppliers to make sure our deck had the proper wood and materials, to do it right. As a All-State Insurance agent would say, "Your in Good Hands with John." If you want a job that is not done right, go hire somebody else."

Plaster Repair questions, answered by experts

Drying alone can take 1 to 4 hours to dry to the touch per plaster layer, but some types of plaster take several hours longer to dry. However, this doesn’t mean the job is done because plaster doesn’t fully harden until it cures, which can take a few days to a couple of weeks. It may take even longer if you’re building a new, pretty thick plaster wall. Allow the plaster to cure before painting it.

While it is possible to repair minor plaster cracks or holes yourself, it is generally not recommended for larger jobs or if you want a professional result. Plaster repair can be difficult in practice; proper wall preparation and achieving a smooth, seamless finish that blends with the existing wall requires experience, especially on textured surfaces. Hiring a professional ensures the repair will be durable and last longer, potentially saving you money over time. A pro can also determine if the cracks are from normal expansion or a more serious underlying issue.

Common causes of ceiling cracks along drywall seams include poor drywall installation techniques, structural issues, truss uplift, and foundation problems. Temperature and humidity also play major roles in ceiling cracks flush with the wall. As the drywall shrinks and expands from major temperature changes or extreme humidity shifts, this can cause the drywall to crack.

Like many other repair projects, the cost to fix a behind-the-wall shower leak depends on several factors. The cost of your repair may depend on the type of leak (from a clog or burst pipe), type of piping, and location of the leak. The extent of the issue and how difficult it is to access the pipes can greatly impact and increase your price. On average, you can expect to pay around $150 to $600 to repair a leaking shower.

Generally, your homeowner’s insurance might only cover ceiling collapses caused by problems under the coverage, such as a busted pipe. But if the ceiling collapse resulted from owner negligence, maintenance issues, or other reasons excluded by your policy, you could be on your own. Some policies might cover damages caused by the collapse but not the repair itself. Check with your policy carrier for the most accurate information regarding ceiling collapse coverage.
