"My 1970's ramble needed an update but I was feeling overwhelmed by having to get multiple bids and talk to different contractors. I was never sure if I was getting the best "bang for my buck" until I got lucky and found Young Guns. Anthony and Brandon are amazing to work with! I had several projects that I wanted to do and asked if they would provide separate bids for each project so I could be sure to stay within budget. They were more than willing to do this for me. First project on my list was my upstairs bathroom which we took down to the studs. I did not want a "tub surround" so they installed a new tub, complete tub to ceiling tiling, new shower and faucets, new tile flooring, new sheetrock and paint. The end result was absolutely beautiful! Next was the new Pergo flooring throughout the entire upstairs and painting each of the 3 bedrooms. New doors and trim (we went with the craftsman look - their suggestion). Tore out the old wood burning stove in the living room and installed an electric fireplace. We are almost done in the living room and I hope the boys post a picture on their web site. I am thrilled with the end result! Finally the kitchen. We are waiting for the new cabinets to come. Anthony says any day now. We installed new "can" lights and a new skylight when we removed the old evaporative cooler off the roof. Did I mention I have central air now? I cannot rave enough about the professional workmanship these guys provided and the attention to detail. Both guys are friendly and professional. More important they were honest in their dealings with me. I felt comfortable leaving them the keys to my home each day while I went to work. I am going to tackle the basement area next year. I won't even bother to look for anyone else to do the work. They are absolutely first on my list."

"Jason and his wife were so easy to work with. They listened to what we wanted and ran with it. We did a complete front and backyard remodel and they did it all! New sod, cement, sprinkler system, front and back porch, fence, cement pad, they pulled and cut trees and new rails around the patio. We have a completely new front and backyard. It’s so beautiful. We spend a lot of time outside just admiring their work. They were professional, fast and offered us the most reasonable price for everything we wanted. We would definitely hire AMT Concrete & Services again!"

"If you are at all like us, you tend to fix your fence and find every reason to avoid getting a new one. But once we saw the finished product on our neighbor -- how fast the workers tore down the old one, dug the post holes, put up the new one AND stained it-- our decision was made. Sure, there are many fence companies that can do this; but Stand Strong uses heavy, heavy material --cedar that is 3/4 for the boards, metal-reinforced gates, shadow-box styling (or whatever look you want), and the best pricing out of four fence company bids-- and the decision becomes an easy one. Add to all of this the professionalism and courtesy extended by owner Justin, and you have a superior end result that you would happily recommend to others. You will NOT be disappointed"

Gate Repair questions, answered by experts

Gates are often stuck halfway due to physical blockages or damage to the rollers, wheels, or tracks the gate runs on. Check to make sure there are no obstructions before considering that the motor might be burned out or malfunctioning somehow. Hopefully, the issue is simple, and you can remove it with a broom or your hands, but if your gate is stuck and there's no obvious reason why, you should call a pro to diagnose the issue.

Electric gates can be forced open if someone applies enough force to the edge furthest from the mounting bracket. You can reduce this risk by adding an electric lock to your gate opener. However, automatic gate openers generally help deter intruders, especially when paired with outdoor lighting and security cameras. Other home security tips include trimming trees surrounding the area for added visibility and installing motion sensors in your yard.

While it is possible to install a manual gate yourself, it is generally not recommended. Professional installation is strongly advised, especially for automated or large driveway gates. Gates can be extremely heavy, sometimes weighing hundreds of pounds, which makes them bulky and dangerous to maneuver into place. Proper installation requires perfect positioning and balancing to ensure the gate swings smoothly and functions as intended. For automated gates, the wiring is also hazardous and typically requires a licensed electrician. Mistakes during a DIY installation can be costly, as materials alone can average around $1,000. Given the safety risks and the difficulty of achieving a proper setup, it is best to hire a professional gate installer.

The cost to install a gate varies widely, with a typical range between $1,500 and $7,000. The average cost is around $3,500. However, the final price can be as low as $200 for a simple gate or as high as $12,000 for a large, automated security gate.

Key factors that determine the installation cost include:

  • Gate Material: This is a primary cost factor. Chain-link and vinyl are the most affordable, while wood and PVC are mid-range options. Wrought iron, aluminum, and other metals are the most expensive materials.

  • Automation: Automated gates are significantly more expensive than manual ones because they require motors, sensors, controls, and electrical installation.

  • Size and Type: The dimensions and style of the gate (e.g., swinging vs. sliding) will impact the price.

  • Security Level: Gates with advanced security features will increase the overall cost.

It can cost $100 to $500 to purchase and install a gate opener. You can use ready-made kits that come with DIY instructions. If you hire a professional gate installer to handle the job, expect to pay an average of $100 per hour or between $200 and $500.
