Customers say: True professional

"Daniel was extremely responsive, flexible with scheduling, quick but thorough with the work, and very professional. He discovered an additional small drywall issue that my insurance adjuster had missed, and talked to me about repair options and associated costs before doing the work. He was very clear and accurate with pricing, and clear about payment expectations before doing the work. He was exceptionally courteous and professional. I would be happy to hire him again and would eagerly recommend him to friends and family for any drywall work."

"I hired Moses to replace drywall, texture and paint my basement. He is a perfectionist in his work, and even went so far as to redo a whole wall because he didnt like how it turned out. He takes extreme pride in his work. He was very careful and clean and took great care to protect the rest of my home from dust. He was always on time and communicated with me every step of the way. I am thrilled with the result. I recommend him wholeheartedly!"

"We had an amazing experience with Stud Enterprises. They drywalled our entire basement. Eduardo was professional and incredibly easy to work with. He was always quick to respond to calls or texts and made us feel like our project was a top priority for him and his company. The guys were respectful and did a fantastic job. They did cover a few outlets and vents, but came the next day and fixed them. We would recommend them to anyone looking for a quick drywall job of any size."

"Leonard installed drywall on my basement walls and ceiling, replaced drywall in a bathroom, renovated the bathroom, installed a new bathroom vanity, including hooking up the plumbing, and installed and sealed tile on the bathroom floor and walls. He painted the bathroom and the ceiling in the basement. He was a pleasure to work with. He was thorough, neat, friendly and professional.; he kept all the promises he made and his prices were very fair. I would hire him again in a heartbeat."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have studs in the area where you want to install your TV mount, you may still be able to install a TV mount on drywall. The easiest way to install a mount on drywall is by using drywall anchors—but not just any plastic anchors. Choose molly bolts or toggle anchors, which have a weight capacity of around 50 pounds. For added support, consider pairing drywall anchors with a wall mounting plate. Extra heavy TVs may need to be mounted via the ceiling joists or beams.

Plaster walls typically last between 30 and 70 years, but depending on the quality of the materials and the moisture levels in the building, they can last for over 100 years. With expert application and consistent maintenance, plaster can even last for centuries. To extend its lifespan, it is important to have the plaster professionally installed, address any water damage promptly, and repair small cracks as they appear. Regular inspections by a professional can help identify and address concerning cracks before they become significant issues.

Some painters will repair minor drywall damage. For repair work of any kind, it’s a good idea to hire the professional required for the job. Many painters will have the materials on hand and can add them to the total cost. While you may save some money, there is a chance the work will be subpar compared to a professional who specializes in drywall.

It’s less costly to drywall a fireplace than shiplapping it since material costs are higher for shiplap. However, if you’re DIYing the project, shiplap is less expensive since you won’t have to pay for labor. With drywall, getting a smooth finish is difficult unless you’re a pro. Shiplap is ideal for an accent wall or unique space, such as around a fireplace, since it adds texture and gives off a cozy vibe.

There are six levels of drywall finish, from 0 to 5, that refer to the amount of work performed during the finishing process.

Level 0: Drywall is hung with no finishing work.

Level 1: Tape is placed over the seams between drywall sheets.

Level 2: A thin layer of mud is applied over the tape and screw holes. This level is common for utility rooms or walls that will be covered.

Level 3: A full coat of mud covers the screw holes and tape, but the surface is not sanded. This is often used in garages.

Level 4: This is the most common finish for visible interior walls. It involves applying two coats of mud over seams and screw holes, with sanding between each coat, creating a smooth surface ready for flat paint.

Level 5: This is a high-end finish for luxury homes. It includes full taping, mudding, and sanding, plus a final skim coat over the entire surface before painting.
