"I hired Moses to replace drywall, texture and paint my basement. He is a perfectionist in his work, and even went so far as to redo a whole wall because he didnt like how it turned out. He takes extreme pride in his work. He was very careful and clean and took great care to protect the rest of my home from dust. He was always on time and communicated with me every step of the way. I am thrilled with the result. I recommend him wholeheartedly!"

"I would highly recommend Motivation Mudd Man to my family and friends. Gerardo did an excellent job repairing my drywall that was damaged due to my basement flooding. It was not an easy job having to work around tight corners in my laundry room. He did a seamless job on matching texture as well! He was very thorough and kept me informed each day as to where he was on the project and what he would be doing the next day. He went above and beyond by also offering to replace some cedar wood trim that would have taken me at least a week to do on my own. Great service, honest business and very prompt!"

"Charlie and Brad are professionals, craftsman and all-around good people. We were lucky to find them here on HomeAdvisor and hired them for a week's work in our home. They were instrumental in the remodel of our kitchen, providing demolition, drywall, and paint services. All work was beautifully completed. These guys are masters of their trade and take pride in their work. They are also incredibly thoughtful and clean. My partner and I enjoyed having these guys around, and were happy to pay the bill for the value we received. We are also already planning additional project work with them. So get in line people!"

"Another great job by Dave from his team Cransten Handyman and Remodeling, we had a ceiling leak that had done some damage in our garage they removed all the molded things, took out the damage, replaced insulation, put up new drywall, and painted and all looks great again. Drywall questions, answered by experts

Drywalling a garage is a smart decision if you want to protect your garage from fires, moisture damage, and exterior noise. Most garages have flammable supplies that could result in serious damage in the off chance of an accident. Drywall is fire resistant, helping to prevent fires from spreading. Not to mention, drywall can improve the appearance of a dingy, old garage.

Whether you need a drywall anchor depends on the specifics of your project, particularly what you're hanging and where. You do not need a drywall anchor if you can screw or nail the object directly into a wooden stud, as the wood provides sufficient support and stability. However, if there are no studs in the location where you plan to hang the item, you should use drywall anchors to ensure it is securely supported. For very lightweight objects, like small pictures, adhesive picture hanging strips can be a suitable alternative to anchors.

Both plaster and drywall are durable wall finishes, but they differ significantly in installation, cost, performance, and aesthetics.

Installation & Cost: Drywall installation is faster and more affordable, typically costing $1.50 to $3 per square foot. It uses premade sheets, making it a more accessible DIY project. Plastering is a labor-intensive craft that requires specialized skills, pushing costs to $2 to $10 per square foot. It involves applying a wet paste over a lath framework.

Durability & Performance: Plaster is generally more durable, longer-lasting, and provides superior soundproofing. It is also a better insulator, which can help reduce energy costs. Drywall is easier to remove for future renovations.

Aesthetics: Drywall provides a smooth, uniform surface ready for paint or texture. Plaster offers a high-end, naturally textured look that can hide imperfections and is often preferred for achieving a classic or historic aesthetic.

Which is better? The choice depends on your priorities. Drywall is ideal for those prioritizing a lower upfront cost, faster installation, and DIY potential. Plaster is the better option for a higher-end project where durability, soundproofing, and a unique, premium finish are more important than the initial cost.

Your walls are likely cracking due to fluctuations in the temperature outside. Drywall tends to expand and contract when temperatures and humidity levels change, and this repeated movement can lead to cracks in your walls, particularly around door frames. If you have multiple diagonal cracks, you may want to have your foundation inspected, as cracks can also be a sign of a bigger issue.

Depending on the place where the cutting error occurred, you may be able to fix it. Learning how to patch a hole in drywall is challenging, but if you can tape and mud drywall, you can do it. Having said that, patching is time consuming. Early in the installation process, you may find that it’s easier and far less time consuming to just start over with a new sheet of drywall, cutting a new hole in the right spot. You may be able to use part of the incorrectly cut piece elsewhere, so it’s not completely wasted.
