"We are extremely satisfied with our new backyard. A unique circular firepit made with granite boulders, a gas burner insert, custom installed rock slab steps down to the firepit, 3pc pavers for the walkway, patio seating area and crushed river rock for surrounding areas. Doug s communication, professionalism and expertise is truly appreciated. His ability to get materials and equipment down to our daylight basement yard area was remarkable since access was difficult and extremely limited. In fact, four other landscaping firms had turned the job down before Doug which speaks volumes. He also presented real time solutions that solved big issues regarding stairs, firepit design and water drainage. He provided a quality finished product at reasonable pricing. We definitely recommend Doug for your project!"

"We had a different yard man, but he wasn't doing the job. Our HOA was upset with our yard, and we had to hire someone else ASAP. Wade responded right away, even though it is his busy season, and he was able to add us to his schedule within a week. Very good work and very dependable."

"We would give Cody 10 Stars if they were available. He has installed two paver patios for us and our experience with the first prompted the second. On time; responsive; responsible and a true artisan who takes the time necessary to do it right the first time. Plus, his price was reasonable and he’s super easy to get along with. He will be our first choice for any work that is within the scope of what Aspired Custom Creations does."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Xeriscaped lawns are far more varied than many gardeners initially assume. The often-pictured rocky and cacti-filled landscapes are just one option. Many wildflower-, herb-, and mulch-covered landscapes follow the same principles without straying too far from the lush and colorful landscapes we have come to know. In fact, there are numerous xeriscape ideas for customizing an energy-efficient lawn to your liking.

Don’t worry if there’s a gap between cutting and planting an ideal branch. You can still cut the perfect branch when you see it. If you can’t get it in a pot or water right away, put it in a zip-top bag in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to finish the process, make a fresh cut.

If you live in an area with heavy rain or you like the idea of an extra layer of cushion under your feet, you may want to consider adding additional layers under your grass. There are pads that are purely for comfort and ones that can help accelerate drainage for those heavy rains.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.
