"We would give Cody 10 Stars if they were available. He has installed two paver patios for us and our experience with the first prompted the second. On time; responsive; responsible and a true artisan who takes the time necessary to do it right the first time. Plus, his price was reasonable and he’s super easy to get along with. He will be our first choice for any work that is within the scope of what Aspired Custom Creations does."

"True Turf did a wonderful job on our landscape design and installation. I couldn’t be happier with the results. The had equipment to install my large boulders. The concrete curbing came out phenomenally and the new drip lines work very perfect. Tyler pays close attention to detail and was there for us every step of the way. He even helped us get thousands of dollars back from the Washington County water rebate program. I couldn’t be more pleased."

"Brandon was wonderful! I had a rain gutter falling off my house and could not find anyone to fix it. Then Brandon answered the call. He came by (Apple Valley) after working in St.Geo. it was getting late, sun going down but he showed up. Did a great job. I was so relieved to finally get that fixed. And what a great guy! Enjoyed talking with him. Thanks so much, Kay"

"We hired them for our business and home Christmas lights. They did an excellent job on the install and took them down in a timely manner. We had a couple of lights go out and Freeborn and his team were immediately there to fix it. We would definitely recommend their services."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Many ways to landscape a steep slope on a budget exist. Avoiding expensive retaining wall construction is the first step. Consider creating a rocky slope with boulders or large stones, or think about planting perennials that return every year with a single investment. Transplanting small trees from elsewhere on your property is also possible and can help to stabilize steep slopes without purchasing new ones.

Many people have used old tires in gardens as raised beds, planters, tree rings, and DIY decor. However, these uses are not recommended due to the toxicity of many of the chemicals used to manufacture tires. These chemicals can leach into the soil and water as the tire breaks down, creating environmental pollution and health hazards for gardeners and their families.

Yes, you can landscape in the rain, but you should take some precautions to keep yourself and your tools safe. Avoid using electric landscaping tools during rainfall, and don’t mow, thatch, aerate, or rake in the rain, as your tools can more easily tear out roots in the loose soil. Be careful when working on wet grass, and take your time to avoid slipping. Avoid putting in new plants before a particularly bad storm, as heavy rain and strong winds can damage or uproot plants that aren’t yet established.

The best time to plant a tree is in the spring, so the roots have time to grow into the surrounding soil before winter sets in. Some people recommend planting in the late fall. However, planting in the spring reduces the stress on the tree, as it will be emerging from dormancy, giving it the full spring and summer ahead to acclimate and put down roots into the soil.

Plant a peach tree right at the end of your local dormancy period, likely at the very end of winter after the last frost when you can dig into the soft soil. Plan your backyard gardening season, including when planting peach trees, based on the frost schedule predicted in your local hardiness zone.
