"Doug completed my backyard landscape into a very creative design. He drew plans that would pass our HOA and completed all work according to his estimates. Not only did he do excellent work, he make sure every thing was cleaned up around the house after the project was completed. I would highly recommend Doug Holt and his team of workers."

"Cody was very pleasant and setup an appointment within minutes of my listing on Angi. He was able to come the next day and gave a similar quote that I received from another vender who could fit me in within the next 2 weeks. Cody was able to do my project of fixing sunken patio bricks and did an excellent job. He was also able to brush in polymer sand to my entire patio to make it look like new. I would definitely hire him for any job that he does."

Landscaping questions, answered by experts

Don’t worry if there’s a gap between cutting and planting an ideal branch. You can still cut the perfect branch when you see it. If you can’t get it in a pot or water right away, put it in a zip-top bag in the refrigerator. When you’re ready to finish the process, make a fresh cut.

The landscaping elements that add the most value are often the basics. A well-maintained, attractive lawn can have a return on investment (ROI) of up to 217%. Routine lawn maintenance, such as edging and mulching, can provide an ROI of over 100%. Other high-value projects include upgrading your front walkway, which can offer a 100% ROI, and planting trees. Projects like adding decks, patios, outdoor lighting, irrigation systems, fire pits, and outdoor kitchens also add value and enjoyment, though their direct financial ROI may be less than 100% in some cases.

Yes, it is possible to add too little mulch. Anything less than 1 inch will likely result in too little coverage around your plants, allowing weeds to grow through and minimizing the positive effects that a deeper bed of mulch would have, like maintaining proper soil moisture and insulating the ground.

The soil around your foundation should slope down and away from your home, not toward it. If the grading drops the farther you are from your home, you can enhance the slope by removing more soil. Mark off a few feet from your house and dig up some of this soil. Regrading around your fountain should encourage water to flow away from your home and not collect or “pond.”

Hedges can be trimmed in many other shapes than the standard square shape. They can be cut into spiral, cone, and sphere shapes. However, cutting and maintaining these types of shapes is much more challenging. There are metal frames that you can purchase to place around the hedge to make it much easier.
