"We're very happy with Cransten Service All Start company and especially with Pace Jorgensen who did an outstanding job in replacing our single sidelight front door with mahogany solid wood door with speakeasy window and double sidelights. "Joseph Donabella was the handyman that came and fixed my front door. I have not been able to use my deadbolt for years. Joe took the door off and refit it properly so I can now use my deadbolt again. My door knob lock was also sticking. After he checked it he said I needed to replace the door knob due to its age and suggested I go to a hardware store so I can get the new knob and get it rekeyed to my current key. He was very pleasant and professional. I would work with him again."

"I meant to write this review months ago, but I didn't find where I put their business card until recently! David Adamson came to give a quote on our bathroom that had water damage. I told him our plans and asked if he thought the estimate our insurance gave us was accurate. He assessed the situation and immediately recommend we *not* use his services because he could see that our insurance company was lowballing the estimate. Before doing any remodeling, he said, what we needed was a public insurance adjuster to help us battle with insurance, because a bathroom couldn't be rebuilt for the amount insurance was saying. He knew this because before he was a contractor, he worked as an insurance adjuster."

"They did the job right. The contractor's representative was knowledgeable. I shopped several contractors and choose Greenify because they 1) responded to my request and 2) they were knowledgeable."

"The installers were great. The salesperson made promises that he did not keep and he missed a window. When the person came to measure he also didn’t catch that I was having all my windows done except one. The windows look great. The response when I notified the co that one window was missed was very fast but added to my cost."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Typically every 10-15 years or whenever they show signs of wear and tear.

The steps to replace a retractable screen can vary, but these are the general steps: First, remove the screen cover to expose the screen mechanism and remove the clip that holds the screen in place. Next, depress the end of the screen mechanism so it releases from the door frame. Take your new screen and fit one end into the frame. You may need to rotate the mechanism to engage the spring before inserting the other end into the frame. Finally, pull the screen down the length of the door’s opening and lock it in place with the clip.

No, it’s not safe to leave a doggy door open. It might be more convenient, especially at night when you just want to lay in bed. However, when you leave it open, it increases the chance of other critters getting in without your knowledge. Also, it leaves your pup unsupervised for hours at a time.

If you’d rather repair your screen door mesh than replace it, you can patch it. Purchase a mesh patch for screen doors with small holes or tears, especially if the mesh is pretty new. Hardware stores and websites sell mesh patches that are easy to apply with an adhesive or a warm hair dryer. Keep in mind that repairs won’t look as aesthetically pleasing in most cases as a full replacement.

Yes, you can fix windows without replacing them. However, this will depend on the severity of the issue and what your needs are. Minor water damage, broken glass, damaged casing, and worn caulking are usually easy repairs. But if there is excessive damage, the windows are constantly foggy, or the windows are very old, it’s best to consider replacing them. Replacement windows cost between $575 and $1,475 per window, or an average of $850 per window.
