"Byron is awesome! Very knowledgeable and efficient. Very fair pricing! He gave me home that we can save my old horse chestnut tree. She was looking sad. We had a lovely chat too. Really nice guy. I would definitely recommend."

"The tree and stump removal were good. The office manager, or whoever they use, is very hard to deal with. They lost my check payment and said we had not paid. I had to spend $25.00 to cancel my check and issue another one. When you call, you can never speak to anyone personally; just leave a message. They never return calls. They do reply to emails after a while, but like I said, they lost my check. An email denied that we had paid. Poor office management"

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

Some trees will bounce back just fine, and others will struggle and possibly die. Evergreens, for instance, have a very difficult time recovering after droughts and usually die after periods of extreme dryness. Usually, you’ll have to just wait and see—if the drought occurs in wintertime, it’s possible that your tree will recover during the gentler springtime.

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.

Yes, many services include stump grinding to eliminate tripping hazards and improve aesthetics.

Local tree removal prices range from $200 to $2,000 overall, but vary depending on:

  • Local cost of labor and supplies

  • Accessibility of the tree

  • Local laws regarding who is allowed to remove the tree

  • The species of the tree (softer woods are often easier to remove)

  • Local seasonal discounts for the off-season
