Resurfacing a garage floor takes about eight hours on average, with another couple hours over three days to do the epoxy. Epoxy goes on in three coats, with each coat taking 24 hours to dry and cure. You’ll need to keep foot and vehicle traffic off of your garage floor for around 4 days in total when replacing your garage floor, so be sure to plan ahead before you start. It’s better to lift and set down furniture; sliding it across the floor is more likely to cause damage to both the floor and the furniture itself. For very heavy items, consider using a dolly with rubber wheels. It is possible to purchase sliders designed specifically for gliding furniture across floors, but you still risk causing permanent damage to flooring if you use them.

If you also need to know how to fill the gap between the floor and the baseboard, it's best to use a flexible, paintable latex caulk. Clean the area thoroughly to remove dust and debris. Then, apply a smooth bead of caulk along the gap using a caulking gun, and use a caulk-smoothing tool to press and smooth it into place. If the gap is large, you may need to insert backer rod, such as a foam filler, before caulking. Once dry, paint the caulk to match the baseboard for a clean, seamless look.

For rooms with an even number of feet (10 x 12, for example), you can technically just multiply them together to get the number of square feet in the room (10 feet x 12 feet = 120 sq. ft.). For irregularly shaped rooms or areas that aren’t even square feet, converting to inches will be your best bet for an accurate measurement.
