"I called five different companies from Angie's List, while all came out and inspected the property only Precision Pavers actually inspected the property, returned and presented a drawing of their vision based on our wants and needs. They had solutions to some problem areas on our property which no other company even suggested. During construction I could count on them to inspect and instruct at least twice a day and even went beyond the job by helping us set up an arbor and moving the furniture where we wanted it to go. The team of workers were the best and their workmanship top notch. Precision Pavers is a professionally run company I can endorse and recommend."

"I was nervous taking on a big project like this. With Mike, I knew exactly what to expect and didn’t feel pressured or misled. That’s saying a lot when it comes to a big project like this! It turned out beautifully and has all the features we wanted for a fair price. Can’t live in Texas without a pool. But don’t get a pool unless you’re hiring these guys."

"Carlos came and replaced the valve on my pool and also cleaned it. He arrived when he said he would and performed the work that we discussed. He also went above and beyond and did work that I hadn’t told him about. The quality of work is very good and the price was fair. I highly recommend premier fiber glass and resurfacing."

Install Above Ground Pools FAQs, answered by experts

Building a pool yourself will take at least eight to 12 weeks. After all, this is the building timeline after hiring a pool contractor who knows how to draw up plans, analyze your landscape, and apply for proper permits. If you choose to tackle any part of the process alone, assume building a pool will take two to three months at a minimum.

Yes, you will need to shock your pool with high levels of chlorine or bromine when you first fill it to kill off bacteria and pathogens. You’ll need to wait for the chlorine concentration to come back down to a safe level before swimming. After that, you can test and maintain the chlorine and other levels as normal. The only exception to this is if you get pool water delivered by a professional. In that case, the water might come pretreated, so you might not need to shock it.

There are three types of pool filters—cartridge, sand, and D.E. (diatomaceous earth). Cartridge and sand filters are the most popular types and are affordable and easy to maintain. D.E. filters are more expensive and require more maintenance, but they are also very good at filtering out small particles.

The time it takes for a pool heater to heat a pool can range from eight to 48 hours, with an average of about 12 hours for the initial heating. For a more specific example, an average-sized 15,000-gallon pool may take six to 10 hours to heat up by 10 degrees. The exact duration depends on several factors, including the pool's size, the type and size of the heater, the starting water temperature, and the outside air temperature. It may take some trial and error to determine the precise time your specific pool takes to reach a desired temperature.

The best way to kill off an algae bloom in an aboveground pool is to shock it with a large dose of chlorine. Shock typically kills off algae in about one to three days, although it can take longer if the pool water is in poor condition. After the shock treatment, add algaecide to prevent algae from growing back, and test the water every few days with test strips to ensure the pool’s pH doesn’t get out of whack.
