I had used Tropix for many years for various repairs to my pool. I hired them to replaster my pool and repair the sheer descent (wall of water), among other things all necessary after many years. It took them several months to do the work, and in fact they left without completing some of the repair work. When I kept calling the person supervising the repairs, Caleb, he told me they were finished with the work. After I finally convinced him to meet me at my home and see for himself, he discovered they hadn't completed the work but had lied to him. After numerous calls they came out and finished "repairing/rebuilding" the sheer descent, but it continued to leak. It has just been over a year and it is falling apart already. They also broke two tiles and just stuck them back on.
They failed to fill in the missing caulking type product that goes between the coping and the tile, even though I specifically asked if that was included and assured it would be done. Caleb then quit returning my calls, and he actually lied to me several times saying he was out of town, when the receptionist had actually told me he was in town. After about 15 calls, I finally gave up, and the work on the pool has never been completed. I was a loyal customer and trusted they would complete the job and do the work right, so to have things incomplete and falling apart is very disappointing!
Tropix plastered my pool originally in May of 2011. The sale and subsequent install went well.
After about 8 months we started to notice some discoloration to spots in the bottom of the pool. Initially we thought they were stains from debris, but after more time they began to raise and the cracks became rough to the touch. Caleb from Tropix came out to look at the issue right at one year after the plaster but was not able to make a determination as to what the problem was. He said keep an eye on it and let them know if the spots increased in size or if more appeared. As time went on we began to see more spots to the point where there was a dozen or so. I called Caleb back out but no solution again. After another week of looking at the problem I decided to drain the pool so we could actually put our hands on the cracks. At that point we determined that the plaster was raised and pulling away from the base of the pool. Caleb was called and came back out, I also called the owner, Robert Hill to discuss the situation. Caleb came onsite and diagnosed the problem as a bad plaster job, his comment "plaster did not adhere to the base when it was originally installed". Told me that that they had since them fired the subcontractor that performed the work. I asked for a repair total with concessions considering all the facts, he said he would get with Robert Hill and get back with me. Caleb came back with an offer to re-plaster the pool with a couple hundred dollars off which I did not think was sufficient considering the situation and his admittance that the original job was poor. I feel like I gave Tropix the opportunity to make the situation right but they failed to come up with an equitable solution and I still to this day have not received a return call from Robert Hill.
In hindsight I should have been more demanding or handled the complaint with written correspondence, live and learn on this one to the tune of 4000.00.
Summary - they do a good job on repairs but are barely adequate with the weekly cleaning and more expensive than the competition. I would not do business with them again.
