"Asphalt Construction of Gainesville did an outstanding job on my driveway. They transformed an old mess of ruts, gravel and chunks of concrete into an attractive and smooth solid surface. It took only two days. Buddy, his dad, and the rest of the team were punctual, professional, and great to work with. They have all the equipment necessary to do an outstanding job, and you can tell by the way they work that they have plenty of experience. They left my property looking cleaner than when they arrived, and even salvaged some existing material to create a parking pad for my RV. Plus, paving over a cracked driveway only extends the lifetime by about 10 years, whereas replacing it would start the clock over completely to give you up to 30 years.

Three inches is a great thickness for a residential asphalt driveway that sees minimal to moderate traffic from cars, SUVs, and pickup trucks. However, a thicker driveway can better withstand the weight of a heavier vehicle, such as a trailer or a recreational vehicle. If you drive a heavy vehicle on a thin driveway, you risk cracking and damaging it.

Asphalt driveways last anywhere from 15 to 30 years, but if you don’t stay on top of repairs, you may find yourself spending extra to replace your driveway before its typical lifespan. Stay on top of repairing cracks and potholes by routinely inspecting your driveway once or twice a year. It’s a good idea to pressure wash your asphalt driveway at least once a year to keep it clean. Apply a sealer every one to five years, based on your climate.
