Chase from Blacksmith responded quickly to our quote request and he met with us to determine our fencing needs. We had just installed new retaining walls. His quote was online with other bidders. Chase was very knowledgeable and he made recommendations which we adopted. They were about 5 weeks out based on their scheduling which was fine with us. Chase k kept us informed on the starting date and throughout the project. Crew was hard working and courteous and cleaned up property when finished. I would definitely use them again!!

Customer service was great. They were the first company to respond. After several other bids they were the most professional, best estimate. I had them come back and work with me and problem solve. Finished in a day, excellent work. Chase was great.

DO NOT USE BLACKSMITH FENCE COMPANY One month after I hired Blacksmith Fence Company to install a $20,000.00 chain link fence on my property on June 08th 2017, A 50 foot section of a 100 foot run of the fence started to lean over from the wind, this was the only area of the entire fence to fail due to sub-standard fence poles that was used instead of using a larger diameter for the 8 foot high fence with privacy slats. I informed the owner of the business ( Ty ) what had happened and he agreed to repair the fence and would call me back with a time and date, almost two years later and several calls Ty has not returned my calls nor has he showed up to repair the fence. I want the fence repaired with the proper material, I cannot open the entrance gate on that side of the house because of the bent over section of the fence, I gave Blacksmith Fence Company plenty of time (going on two years) to correct this problem, but he will not comply and continues to lie to me when he tells me he will look at his schedule and get back with me. I have given them more than enough time to address this issue, now I'm forced to hire another fence contractor to repair his shoddy workmanship, I also feel the money I paid for the fence was not worth what I received.

The whole experience was great. It started with the owner coming out to give me the price and answer questions. I asked many questions, and I could tell he had done many quality fences before because he was able to put me at ease with all my concerns. He had solutions for every situation I brought up. I could tell he would be a good problem solver should problems come up. I like to know how a company handles problem issues because that tells me whether or not I should do business with them. When I brought up a concern like contouring the ground so my dogs could not get out, he put me at ease that it would be done, and he said there are options to cover spaces between the bottom of the fence and the ground should the contour of my fence area be a problem due to my property contour. I asked about the double gate to make sure there would not be space where the gates come together. Again he assured me it would be tight. We discussed the quality of the powder coated panels and how the last thing they do is touch up any imperfections that may have occurred. I had many other questions answered , and it removed the "worry" from the situation. After talking with him and hearing how he does business and how he installs fences, I knew this was the right company for me. The installation went great. Once my job was near the front of the line, they called me periodically to keep me informed about the scheduling of my job so I would know what to expect. The installation team was very skilled at their jobs. From the setting of the posts to the final panel weld, they were professional, courteous, and super workers! They respected my property and left it clean like they found it. I will recommend Blacksmith Fence Company to my friends and family.

Ty Herbert delivered my dream fence. He made my $85,000 pos of a house (piece of
sh*t) and made it look like a million bucks!
I wanted the whole ordeal, 60’ linear feet of wrought iron, black powder
coated fence, finials, ball caps, 8’ gate, 4’ fancy gate w/ matching side
panels, concrete mow strip and all. He
even sent me a photo of the fancy gate before they powder coated it to see if I
was satisfied with the design. See

His crew was super fast and accurate. I started out looking for aluminum fencing
but switched over to wrought iron when I met and spoke w/ Ty. His work is impeccable! The crew was so clean it doesn’t even look
like anyone’s been there.
His communication instantaneous and was via Angie’s list and
then email and phone. I’ve never had
such an effortless contractor experience.
Two days before he started, I noticed Atmos flags in my
front yard. It didn’t even dawn on me to
call the utility companies. Plus he acquired
the permit and did not even charge me for it!
Smooth as silk. I wish I could do
it again! If anything goes wrong he’ll
be out to fix it but I can see after close inspection that this fence is
PERFECT!
All of this gorgeous work for only $2500, ½ down.

I asked for a refund of $450 and I have never received it. Nothing but empty promises. The owner of Blacksmith Fence is nothing better than a liar. Please do not use this company for any service. I hope that nobody has to deal with the lies that I have had to deal with.

The project went as planned. The crew arrived Monday, removed the old fence and dug holes for the new fence posts. Tuesday, they set the new posts in concrete. Wednesday, attached the cross members, and Thursday completed the fence. Friday morning finished hanging the very heavy gate and completing the job.
A couple of additional comments:
Blacksmith Fence rebuilt our cedar pool equipment enclosure that was destroyed in a storm for no charge after originally quoting a price in the initial quote. Additionally, they unexpectedly repainted not only the replaced driveway gate post, but the entire gate and existing post on the other side of the driveway at no charge.
Generally, the workers arrived after we left for work in the morning and were gone by the time we returned home in the evening. I considered that a plus as we enjoy our evenings outside.
I originally contacted Blacksmith Fence in April 2012 for a quote. I delayed scheduleing the job until September 2012. During this time, Ty stayed in contact and was prepared to start the job at my convenience.
Very happy with the quality and professionalism. We chose this contractor solely based on the Angie's list reviews. We would use them again.

Update 10/28/2012: If you want a privacy fence, make sure you specify no gaps between slats. After my initial favorable review of my fence, I realized the slats were places 1/4 to 3/8 apart. Not ideal when you want a privacy fence. I realize there are variances in the wood slats, but most of our slats were installed with a very large gap. When dealing with this vendor, make sure the slats are installed tight in the upfront negotiations. This is not something you can fix after the work is done.

I found this company on Angie's List and seeing the reviews, decided it was a good choice for my fencing needs. I called and spoke to Ty about the estimate. He told me that he would be able to make it out to do the estimate around 2pm the same day, this was good news and I was very excited to get such a prompt response. Ty called me back later that day and told me that unfortunately he would not be able to make it out and would need to reschedule for the following day, ok no problem. he was very hesitant to give me a time frame in which he would be available, but when coaxed finally agreed to be here between 10 and 11 am. So I made arrangements to ensure I would be available at home during that time frame. At about 1 pm the following day I called Ty and asked if he was planning to come out as he was now 2 hours late on his original promise. I was told, "yeah I should be able to make it out there later today, I'll just give you a call." The call never came, and I sat around waiting the entire day. That was yesterday, at about 4 pm I decided to go with another company and gave them a call to schedule an estimate, they were able to come this morning at about 10 am, and I still have not heard back from Ty. I don't mind having to wait for an estimate, as long as I am told that I will need to wait. If the original conversation had gone like this, "unfortunately I am rather backed up and won't be able to make it out to your house until next week", we would have been fine. But when I make arrangements not one but two days in a row, I start getting a little frustrated. I will update this review, if and when I ever hear back from Ty, but I will be using the new company (Handyman Matters) for my fence repair.

Blacksmith was clear and they outlined the bid very professionally. They seem to know what they are talking about. Their price was in the middle.

He did a great job. One thing I liked about him is I wanted the vertical little wrought irons to be round instead of square, because most pool fences just have square, and he was able to do them round for me. It is just a mom and pop operation; it's just he and a few guys. I think they are reasonable. They matched the paint; he had other price fencing but I wanted the green. When he does his wrought iron, you can get it in 100 different colors unlike black or white like a lot of people. Since we had existing fencing that was like a forest green color, I didn’t want black out there with the existing so he was able to match the paint perfect. I don’t like those little Indian head things on top of my fencing. So he was able to make it real contemporary and simple and sweet and not goofy looking. I also asked for 3 different gates to go round so we could go out to the pool from different areas. He made them 4 ft. gates that way the dogs can come in. He did exactly what we asked.

I called Blacksmith Fence based on a positive story in Angie’s List Magazine. I sent a sketch of the work I needed to TY Herbert. Mr Herbert responded that the type of work I wanted was not within the scope of his company’s capabilities. Mr Herbert referred me to Rustic Fence who I contracted with and was completely satisfied with the price and result.

The guy that came out was a nice guy and he returned phone calls promptly. He was very conscientious and he came out to make sure that the job was done correctly and that they cleaned up.

It went very well, we are very happy with our new entry gate. We have since completed a second project with Blacksmith Fencing Company and are very happy with the results on that project too.
