At Tomcat's Tree Trimming and Landscape we strive to continue to provide one on one customer service, quality work and fair prices. We have been serving Lubbock county for 10 years. We have residential and commercial customers as well. We offer free estimates, just call Tomcat's 806-438-1106.

"The two guys were there 15 minutes did not even get up in the tree to do the service. They made 6 cuts did not treat the bark. They did pick up the limbs and left. We called the owner he came out and justified all but for 475.00 we expected alot better service. They never got up in the trees and trimmed all the stragglers, they left a whole limb in front of the house. It was the worst service ever and they took off 50.00. Would not recommend. We have since had someone come and they spent 5 hours cleaning up the tree and doing what was needed to be done. If you want to keep your trees do not use this company."

"Save your money and time, find a local business to support. 1st service had to call for them to come back out and respray because they did not do part of the side & backyard. 2nd service again the same thing even after talking with the technician before he started. Had to call to get a re-service. 3rd service, had to call again because states did granules and spray. Did granules only. Weeds not dying & new ones coming up because no spray was done. They say will send someone out. 7 days No one comes. Call again. Say Scheduled upcoming Wed. Wed No one comes. Now it?s scheduled for Friday. Friday No one comes. Now scheduled for next Wednesday. Am I confident that someone will be here next Wednesday that?s a laugh! In my opion what they?re doing is putting their paying customers before their re-spray because they?re not going to make their $200 on the respray. Save your energy and money unless of course you like calling every time after they come to do your yard. "

Mulch and Topsoil questions, answered by experts

Determining how many boulders you’ll need for your landscaping project depends on the area you need to cover and how big each boulder is. First, you’ll need to determine how big of an area you want covered, then divide that by the base surface area of the boulders. A landscape professional can help you determine how many boulders will be right for your project.

The best equipment for moving large rocks from your yard depends on their size and weight. A heavy-duty wheelbarrow or a rock dolly can be effective for smaller boulders. A skid-steer loader or a mini-excavator with a grapple attachment provides the necessary power and control for larger, heavier rocks that you can’t lift manually. Professionals may use a larger excavator and ratchet hoist to remove larger boulders.

When you purchase mulch for delivery, it’s usually by the cubic yard, so you’ll want to convert your space to cubic yards to get the right amount. First, determine the square footage of the area you want to cover, and then determine how deep the bed of mulch will be—a good rule of thumb is around three inches. Multiply your square footage in feet by the depth in inches and divide by 324. You may want to add a ½ to one additional cubic yard to ensure you have enough.

A 50-pound bag of pea gravel equals approximately one-half of a cubic foot. That amount will cover a three-square-foot area to a depth of about two inches. A three-square-foot area with equal-length sides is approximately 1.73 feet by 1.73 feet, or about 20.75 inches on each side.

Hardscaping often requires preparation of the ground in the area where the feature is being installed. This can include digging, compacting, and leveling the soil, ensuring adequate drainage, and removing any existing plants. The extent of preparation needed will depend on the type and size of the hardscaping feature being installed.
