"If you’re looking for someone to install gutters on your home, Pinnacle Builder’s are the people you want to hire. Cornilio and his assistant went right to work and didn’t stop until the project was completed. They are very professional throughout the entire process from supplying the quote for the job and continuing to clean up as they installed the system until they finished. I have decided that due to their professionalism I am having them to quote me a patio with cover to be constructed. These guys are the real deal so if your needing gutters, all types of construction contact them you will be glad that you did."

"Excellent job repairing a patio roof a few weeks ago. Two days ago I asked them to check on the wonderful roof they recently installed- thought a small leak occurred during the last rain. All is well since the house itself seems to slant a bit. The roof is great, Michael explained things, and he gets my vote for a great attitude. Thanks for good work!!"

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

With routine maintenance, gutters don’t usually need to be replaced for 20 years, but there are warning signs that they might need early replacement. Signs that your gutters need to be replaced include sagging, visible cracks or holes, peeling paint, rust, standing water in your gutter, and water leaking into your basement. Pushing off replacing your gutters can lead to extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of your home. Regular maintenance can help your gutters last all 20 years — and sometimes, even longer.

There are a handful of things you can look for to determine if you need to pay for gutter repairs, including the following:

  • Water leaking from the underside of your gutters during rainfall

  • Visible gaps between your gutters and your roof

  • Frequent issues with gutters overflowing or holding standing water

  • Gutters that sag or pull away from the house

  • Water damage to soffits, fascia boards, or other building materials

  • Mold growth on your exterior walls

  • Soil erosion underneath your roof overhang

  • Foundation leaks or inward bowing of foundation walls

Properly installed gutters should be able to function normally in heavy rains. Allowing water to overflow can cause water damage around your home's basement or foundation. If the overflow is caused by a simple clog, paying a gutter cleaning cost of $125 to $250 may be enough to get the gutters running clear again. If there's a larger issue, you may need to repair or replace your gutters.

Snow and ice can both accumulate on the top of a metal roof and slide off as the weight of the snow increases or as the snow and ice melt. This can rip the gutters off your roof and damage the gutters or the roof if you don’t take preventative measures. Snow guards are one of the easiest methods for helping to prevent snow accumulation on your metal roof from damaging your gutters.

The best way to seal gutters is with a combination of waterproof roofing cement and silicone gutter sealant. This powerful duo works to prevent water from escaping through holes and cracks while allowing for breathability. While you can use polyurethane sealants, silicone sealants tend to be more flexible when it comes to climate. Silicone is UV-resistant and bonds well to many surfaces. However, polyurethane sealant bonds better with wood.
