"Ronny has a great team of guys to cut trees. He cut down, removing two Oak trees. grinding the stumps, and cut and trimmed four other Oak Trees. He did everything he said he would and then more! His tree service works safely, takes their time to do things right, with the outcome you discussed and hoped for. He left the lawn perfect by raking the entire yard three times for leaves and tree debris. At completion, he asked you to look over his work to ensure you were pleased. He was wonderful to work with. I have used tree trimmers for years, and Ronny's Tree Service is by far the BEST...He takes great pride in his work, and the tree trimmers are very respectful. I can't recommend this team of hard workers enough. You will not be disappointed! I am grateful that I found this service and will continue to use Ronny's Tree Service."

"They have done a wonderful job maintaining the lawn and are east to work with. I also hired them to trim the large oak tree in our backyard that had branches hanging over the roof. They did a great job of trimming, cleaning up all the branches and gutters and hauling everything away. I highly recommend them!"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

No, you should never top maple trees. Topping injures the tree and leads to the rapid growth of a weak canopy, which can be hazardous to rooftops and utility lines. Removing the crown can also leave the interior bark vulnerable to sun damage, leading to insects and disease. A topped tree can also reduce property value and permanently damage the appearance of a tree.

Make sure the tree roots soak around a day before you dig the tree up for the transplant. Keep the roots wet while the tree is above ground. After the transplant is finished, provide consistent water every day for the first month or so. You don’t want to overwater the tree, but you do want to keep the roots wet so they can thrive in their new environment.

A few signs a tree may be dead is if the leaves are dead and there are no signs of new blooms. You can also perform a scratch test on some of the branches to check the condition of the cambium layer beneath the bark.

If it is green, it is still alive, but if several are dry, brittle, and brown, the tree may be dying or dead. Always consult an arborist before assuming your tree is dead because you may be able to save it.

Leaving the tree stump and letting it rot is never a good idea, as this leads to insect infestations and other frustrations. Additionally, decomposing trunks are at risk for diseases that spread out to the remaining plants and trees in the yard, thus ruining your whole outdoor aesthetic. It's usually best to remove the stump at the same time you remove the tree.

You can remove a small tree from your yard if there’s space for the tree to fall, you have the right tools and safety equipment, and you follow a clear plan of action. You’ll just want to follow the steps above carefully, and ideally, you will have experience doing similar tasks. If you have any doubts that you can do this project safely, though, you should hire a pro.
