"Deep East Texas Roofing did an excellent job installing the metal roof and wall sections for my shop. The results were exactly what I wanted and it actually looks better than I expected. Each crew member knew what he was to do next and how to do it right. Their work exhibited strong attention to detail and precision and they did a good job of cleaning up the job site. I plan to ask them to do other projects in the future. Very pleased indeed."

"Erie Homes was great. Ty and Chris shared the information about roofs in a clear and precise way. I love the high quality of the roofing materials and the standards they hold their workers to when placing the roof. Mike called me each step of the way, so I was prepared when the roofing supplies showed up. I even got calls after the beautiful roof was done. Amazing job!"

"I have nothing but good to say about this young man. He gave us a helluva deal on our fence with 2 gates, .metal poles, etc. He made good suggestions and listened to me ramble on about other ideas. Fast, efficient, competent and just an all around good young man. I would definitely hire him to do more jobs for me."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

If your roof has a vapor barrier, you will need approximately one square foot of roof vent for every 300 square feet of ceiling space. If there is no vapor barrier, the roof should have one square foot of roof vent for every 150 square feet of ceiling space. If you are not comfortable making this determination, a local roofing professional can help.

Yes, a roof blister can cause a leak if it gets to the point where it pops. Prior to popping, a roof blister is just an aesthetic issue, but once it pops, you’re left with a small hole in the shingle. Water from rain and snow can easily get inside this hole and interact with your underlayment, roof decking, and the building material below.

16-gauge galvanized steel staples with a minimum crown of 15/16 inches or 24 millimeters are occasionally used to install shingles. However, most shingle manufacturers or residential building codes don’t recommend staples as a roofing fastener. Roofing nails are preferred in most cases, especially in areas that get a lot of heavy wind.

The cost to replace a roof typically ranges from $8,700 to $22,000, with a national average of around $9,200. The total cost depends on the size of your roof and whether you need a full replacement or can simply place new shingles over the old ones. A full replacement, which is necessary if the roof is several decades old or has multiple layers, is more expensive. This process involves tearing off the old roofing materials, inspecting and repairing the underlying structure, and then installing the new roof.

Metal roofs have a reputation for being noisy, but with proper installation and adequate insulation, they are not significantly noisier than shingle roofs. The type of metal used can affect the sound level; for instance, steel roofs are typically noisier than slate or asphalt tiles but quieter than aluminum. While some people find the sound of rain on a metal roof pleasant, you can take steps to reduce the noise. Installing a thicker underlayment, adding insulation between the roof and the house, or using acoustic tiles can effectively muffle the sound. The gauge (thickness) of the metal roofing can also contribute to sound dampening.
