SATX Home Improvement provides insured and warrantied interior painting, exterior painting, popcorn ceiling removal, drywall - sheetrock repairs, viny flooring installation, and bathroom remodeling services.

"Their foundation work was extremely poor, causing the house to separate and compromising its structural integrity. Multiple engineering firms confirmed the severe damage caused by their substandard work. I strongly advise others to thoroughly vet contractors and check reviews across platforms. This contractor demonstrated a lack of professionalism and accountability, and I hope this review serves as a warning to future homeowners."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

When building a house, it is customary to use 16d nails that measure 3 1/2 inches in length to construct the frame. These nails are crucial in providing the necessary support and stability for structural elements like joists and studs, which ensures a sturdy framework.

The best way to calculate framing costs is by basing your costs on the square footage of your home. On average, framing your home could cost anywhere between $7 and $16 per square foot.

To ensure you don’t go over budget, base your estimates on the higher end of the price range. If you know you’re going to use high-end materials or require a custom or complex build, you might even want to tack on an additional 5% of your budget.

Accurate measurements, sturdy materials, and seamless integration with other structures.

Any issue that affects the structural integrity or soundness of a home is considered a structural issue. In addition to foundation cracks, other signs of structural issues include roof leaks, bowing walls, sloping floors, gaps around windows and doors, and more.

Yes, you can hammer a nail into a wall stud. But before you do, it’s important to confirm that you’re actually nailing into a stud—and not wiring, pipes, or ductwork. To check, find a few more studs in the wall, then measure to make sure they’re either 16 or 24 inches apart.
