"The representative was late so I called and he had forgotten about the appointment. I showed him the windows and described what I was looking for. He took pictures and said he would talk to his boss. I didn't get a reply so I called the representative's cell phone and left a message. No response. I called the office twice and left a message and still no response. This was over a time period of about a month."

Windows questions, answered by experts

Common problems include broken latches, misaligned tracks, and worn seals. Regular inspection prevents major repairs.

Depending on the window style and your home's layout, you can install replacement windows from either the inside or the outside. Many installations are done from the inside because it allows for better access and weather protection, but some exterior installs are easier for certain types of siding or trim. The key is choosing the approach that gives you the best access to the frame while keeping the existing structure intact.

Yes, you can fix windows without replacing them. However, this will depend on the severity of the issue and what your needs are. Minor water damage, broken glass, damaged casing, and worn caulking are usually easy repairs. But if there is excessive damage, the windows are constantly foggy, or the windows are very old, it’s best to consider replacing them. Replacement windows cost between $575 and $1,475 per window, or an average of $850 per window.

Expect excavation below grade, creating a well for access, weatherproofing, and thorough inspections during setup.

Bay windows are not easy to install because they are heavy and require specific tools and woodworking experience. You’ll also need to install a roof cab, flashing, and shingles. Ensuring the window is level and sealed can be tricky but it is important because it prevents air leakage and water from entering your home. Most often, an experienced window pro should install bay windows.
