"We picked Cytech from a listed of recommended AC contractors on Angie's List.  They did have to competitively bid against another contractor.

We worked with CyTech (Leo Cantu) for a couple of weeks hammering out the scope and details for the ac replacement.  They were extremely professional and easy to work with, given the fact that we were developing the proposal remotely (me in  the New Orleans area and CyTech in Edinburg Texas).  They answered all our questions and went the extra step to ensure that we could use the updated electrical system by having the owner personally come to our house and  look at the configuration. They even recommended a LOWER tonnage AC unit after their visit, saving us hundreds of dollars from the previous estimate.

The job itself started on Monday and the crew  performed very well all the while being courteous to my mother.  The crew worked into the evening of the second day to ensure that a minimally operational AC unit was available  to provide  cooled, dehumidified air,  delivered through a few selected vents including the bedrooms.   That was real commitment by CyTech to ensure they wouldn't have to go through another hot humid night.   They completed the balance of the work, including a new duct system by late Wednesday afternoon.

We did have a bit of a concern when looking at the outside condensing unit, based on the dimensions we measured.  I was sure that we did not have the correct unit.   The system was shorter that we had thought, and was definitely shorter than listed in the Lennox literature on the Lennox webpage.

After Leo followed up, consulting with the owner, we were told that they had installed the latest Lennox unit. The reduced height was the result of incorporating a two deep evaporator coil system, maintaining the radiating surface area, but lowering the height f the unit.    My sister went outside and spoke with the crew. They showed her the new design; I felt much better after that confirmation.

The unit has been operating for just three days, but it has been fantastic.  I especially love the Wi-Fi thermostat that was installed with the unit.  I can see, from here in the New Orleans area, the current status of the unit, the temperature and indoor humidity.  We can change the setpoints from our iPhones!!!...how much fun is that.

I have asked them to proceed to add blown in insulation to the attic documented in a separate proposal.  That work will be done after some minor repairs (shingle replacements) are completed on my mother's house roof.

Five stars rating to CyTech.

"Jim for Donhohues Lightning Rods installed the lightning rod system in my home. When the work was done I was very happy as their installer came as per promised time, and perform the work. Before giving them the work Jim completely sold me their work ethics, quality, and service. There was a minor issue and his team took complete ownership of this issue and talked to me in detail. They provide a very good explanation to satisfy me. I am a happy customer."

"I recently had the pleasure of working with Albarado Electric to update my outdoor security lights, and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. David came in and replaced my old, outdated security light with a new, more efficient model. They also installed sensor-activated lights that automatically adjust based on sunrise and sunset, ensuring my property is always well-lit and secure at the right times. David was professional, efficient, and very knowledgeable about the latest lighting technology. The job was completed with minimal disruption, and David always remained in contact with us with the progress of the project. I truly appreciate their attention to detail and quality of work. The new lighting system is working perfectly, and I feel much safer knowing that my outdoor lights will automatically adjust according to the time of day. I highly recommend Albarado Electric for anyone needing electrical work—whether it's for security lights or other projects. They are reliable, trustworthy, and deliver excellent results."

"They charge entirely too much (30k) for a shower remodel after advertising a bathROOM remodel, lifetime warranty is nice but not that nice. They had massive issues with communication, ordering the correct parts, in short, their office personnel logistically failed. The install team itself was fantastic, very cleanly, very efficient, very friendly. The supervisor was very professional and was there everyday with his guys. The sales lady took about 5hrs to do the estimate which is insane. I only went with everything because I needed the showers up and running."

Bathroom Fan Installation questions, answered by experts

A blower and a fan serve different functions, so whether a blower versus a fan is better depends on what you need. If you need to heat or warm your home, it’s important that the HVAC blower is in good working condition. If you want to prevent an AC unit from overheating, make sure to keep up-to-date on condenser fan maintenance.

The direction your ceiling fan spins helps create comfortable airflow in your home and can also help cut down on energy costs.

During summer, your ceiling fan should spin counterclockwise. This will push cooler air downward in a column and help lower your room’s air temperature. In the winter, set your ceiling fan to spin clockwise and at the lowest speed setting. This will pull cool air upwards, displacing the warm air that pools towards the top of your ceiling and bringing it down towards the floor.

You should generally avoid using WD-40 on a ceiling fan. While it might quiet a squeak temporarily, it is primarily an anti-corrosion and water displacement agent, not a true lubricant, and can damage the fan's components over time. Most modern ceiling fans have sealed bearings and do not require oiling, so a squeak may indicate another issue. For fans that do require lubrication, it is better to use a light machine oil, 30-weight motor oil, or a lubricant specifically designed for ceiling fans.

Yes, you can lubricate a ceiling fan without taking it apart. Ensure the fan is off and clean any dust around the motor area before lubricating. Apply several drops of machine oil to the top of the motor housing where the shaft enters or via the oil ports if available. Regular lubrication helps maintain smooth operation and reduces noise. If your fan lacks an accessible oil port, it may require disassembly or professional maintenance.

While it may seem like it makes sense to put a fan in the attic to cool it down, it won’t be as effective as installing attic fans. Ventilation installed near the peak of the roof, whether passive (just allowing heat to escape) or active (drawing the air up and out) will be more effective at cooling the attic.
