"Hector and his crew came out to do a tile job for me around a back yard pool. They completed the job as scheduled and worked late into the evening to meet the deadline. Everything looks great. Very professional as well."

"Scamming the elderly, you should be ashamed! We called them, explained we just needed the kitchen drain cleanout snaked unclogged, they quoted $115 an hour. We agreed. They said it would be an hour or less. It took maybe 30 minutes. I was fine with an hour minimum. When I was out of the room, they charged my elderly parents $215! Clearly took advantage of them. When I called they explained that the plumber had a helper and were charging for him too. Are you kidding?! I could have bought a snake and done it for my parents had I known they were going to scam them. This is not what was quoted or agreed to. We will be filing with the BBB and the Texas AG - it's actually illegal to treat people in their 70's on a fixed income this way, quoting them one thing and price gouging them after the fact. STAY AWAY."

G. T. G. Plumbing, Inc. D.B.A. Roto-Rooter Plumbers is a locally owed franchise. We are a small, local business with a staff of 10. Billing is as follows: Residential customers, payment in full at time of service (large projects may require a down payment); Commercial customers, payment in full NET 30 from invoicing (unless other terms are agreed upon prior to work, not all commercial customers qualify to "charge"); other arrangements are made on a case by case basis. Additional DBA - GTG Plumbing Inc.

"Took two hours. Charged $125 for the plumber and $85 for the helper. that's basically $210 an hour!!! I had most of the parts needed-PURCHASED NEW-and the plumber used his own $119 for a hose and a couple of angle fittings to change the direction of the hose to point down. Gas was turned off at meter to make connections, water heater had to be relit. Even at this price they did not check the pressure. Total bill $408.64. Was NOT given an itemized invoice with costs. Even after requesting one there is NOT a breakdown of material costs. Yes this is Victoria and many businesses overcharge--not enough competition. This is an exorbitant amount to hook up a stove. I would suggest you ask in ADVANCE what they charge if you call them and ask for a firm quote. I will never use this company again. They have LOST a potential regular customer. VERY DISAPPOINTED AND ANGRY. ( this company cleared a kitchen drain obstruction a couple of months earlier and I was charged $115, which I thought was reasonable. A helper assisted the plumber then and I was NOT charged an extra $85 an hour for this. I thought asking for them to install would have been reasonable based on previous charges which also took at least an hour. I feel that I have been taken advantage of regarding this range installation.) BTW their address on invoices, 4502 Lilac Lane, Victoria, TX 77901, is different than the one listed on Angies List; the telephone number is the same."

Gas Leak Repair questions, answered by experts

While you can install a gas dryer yourself, we recommend hiring a pro to help with any work involving gas (safety first!). Keep in mind that your gas dryer will have to meet specific codes and standards. While it will cost more money to work with a professional, it will be money well spent knowing that it’s hooked up correctly.

Call 811 to locate and mark the gas lines at least three days before digging. In many areas, you can dig within 18 inches of the lines, though in some locations, the distance may be further. Check local regulations, as you may need a utility company representative onsite when digging. Document your calls to 811 and precautions taken to avoid gas lines. A homeowner can be held liable for hitting a gas line in some cases, but contacting the proper authorities and following all guidelines can offer protection.

Yes, it’s possible to cap a gas line yourself if you’re no longer using it or are simply going out of town for an extended period of time. It’s essential to follow the steps on properly capping a gas line yourself. If you’re uncomfortable with any of the steps, you may want to bring in a natural gas plumber for added reassurance.

Capping a gas line costs approximately $125. The final price varies from $75 and $150 depending on your contractor’s hourly rate. To completely remove a gas line and cap it at the base can cost up to $250. Most contractors will charge a flat fee instead of by the hour since capping is often part of a larger project.

No, you shouldn't cap a gas pipe with a compression fitting because they aren't designed for gas lines and can pose serious safety risks. Gas pipes require threaded caps that create a secure, leak-proof seal capable of handling gas pressure. Using a compression fitting could lead to dangerous gas leaks—a hazard you definitely want to avoid.
