Initially called Young Plumbing to unclog drain in back yard, replace a wax ring, and unclog a bathroom sink drain.
Main plumber dispatched was easy to talk to and work with. Very Helpful.
Wax ring and sink drain were taken care of pretty quickly. No complaints there.
Drainage line was found to have collapsed. After digging by hand for about a day and a half or two days, the decision was made to remove a section of my fence and bring in a backhoe. Although a technician from the gas company came out and marked off the gas lines, the backhoe was parked on a gas line and snapped it as it sank into the soft, rained on ground. No one knew until I called the gas company and reported that my gas was out. The gas company technician came out and found a gas leak near the meter where the backhoe was parked. Gas was shut off and meter was taken per procedure. Upon contacting Young Plumbing about the gas line the owner himself got on the phone to personally deny any connection with the broken line. As I had pictures of the position of the backhoe while it was in my yard, I pressed the issue and he agreed to come out and have his plumbing technicians verify the location of the break. Once the technician verified the location of the break, the owner agreed to repair the line at a reduced cost. I explained that as it was my line I was fine with paying for materials but that I wasn't OK with paying labor as the line only needed to be repaired as a result of a mistake on their part. The owner reluctantly said he'd give me "a break" on the cost and scheduled technicians to come out and repair the line. Once the job was complete it was months before we heard from them regarding the bill. At that point the bill had accrued several months of finance charges as we had not paid the bill we never received. The owner again personally got on the phone to insist he had been sending the bill and ask when I'd be taking care of the bill, only to find out that he was sending it to the wrong address. As soon as the bill and invoices were sent to my correct address (with all of the finance charges on them...) I noticed that labor had indeed been charged but that I received a 20% discount overall for the gas line repair. to be clear, if I had paid full price for the materials and no labor, the bill would have been about $590.00 less. I showed up in person to discuss the bill and was confronted again by the owner. As I tried to explain my point, I was constantly interrupted by the owner in a loud and demanding tone. His explanation was that if he had known that I wasn't OK with paying labor charges (which I assume I should have been very much more clear on) then he would never have scheduled anyone to take care of the line that the backhoe operator (his employee) broke in the first place. While he would not budge on the labor, he did agreed to take off the finance charges (a little less than $200.00), but only if I paid in full ($4260.17). It is important to note that the repair of the drain lasted for about 2 weeks due to rainfall on a couple of days and that the gas line repair took about 2 days. just for reference.
Needless to say, I will not be using them for any plumbing needs in the future, and have already been met with more skilled and professional plumbers since that incident.
