"What fantastic service! Could not have been any better. I called a 2 pm with a leaking water heater. At 5 pm I had a new one in. When I called, the woman answering my call was great. Had me go and describe. It was leaking badly. She made an appointment for next morning. But called an hour later and said, "I've been worried that the pan will fill and overflow. I am asking the guys to stop by." They did and got a new one and installed. So professional. The company even sent a follow up Thank You card. These will be my go-to guys."

"Could not have been happier. Quick to respond and coordinate a service visit. Forrest was very informative and professional. Repair diagnosed and completed very fast. Got the water heater back up to speed and saved me a lot of money compared to a total replacement. They warranty their work for a year."

"Paul and his crew came to our rescue, yet again. This time we were told we had a gas leak and after some confusion because the gas company mislabeled the meters, Paul spent hours in the cold and dark to get our lines replaced from the meter to the house; working with the City Inspector and the gas company well into several nights. Needless to say, I am very grateful to American Remodel, Paul and Peter. When your heat and hot water are off, you really appreciate those that go beyond the job description to provide exceptional service."

"We pay yearly but we have this is included with our rental property. They are pretty good on most things. We had a hot water heater replaced and they did an excellent job on that. They are very quick on their response. They dont come out here. It is all done on the internet.  I just like the idea that one time service charge is so much better than trying to hiring someone to come in. It is more about convenience. It pays for itself."

Water Heaters questions, answered by experts

Professional installs conclude in mere hours, with complexity differences possibly prolonging efforts slightly. Site condition often dictates the exact duration.

Signs your electric water heater is failing include inconsistent water temperature, reduced hot water supply, longer heating times, or discolored water (rusty or cloudy). Unusual noises like popping or rumbling suggest sediment buildup, while leaks or corrosion around the tank signal structural damage. If your unit is over 10 to 15 years old and experiencing frequent issues, it may be time to replace it.

Most standard residential water heaters, which are typically around 40 gallons and use 240 volts and between 3,500 and 5,500 watts, require a 30-amp, two-pole circuit breaker. For smaller, point-of-use water heaters using 120 volts and between 1,500 and 3,000 watts, a 30-amp breaker is also often adequate. However, some models may have different needs; units that use more watts than average may require a 40-amp breaker, while smaller units might only need a 20-amp breaker. Newer, tankless, or more energy-efficient models can also require a higher amperage. Having the correct breaker size is crucial for safe and efficient operation, so it's best to consult a licensed electrician to determine the specific needs of your water heater.

Most hot water heater manufacturers recommend replacing the anode rod about once every three to five years. Anode rods sacrifice themselves by collecting iron, limestone, and other minerals that would otherwise corrode your hot water heater tank. This abuse wears them out long before your water heater does. Check the rod when you remove it and replace it if more than 50% of the metal has been consumed. Check the rod more frequently if you have hard water or use a water softener.

No, you’ll need to drain the tank before changing a water heater element, as the water heater element sticks through the side of the tank and uses a gasket to prevent water from pouring out. However, you don’t always need to drain it completely. If you’re only replacing the upper heating element, you can drain the tank until the water line is below the element. If you’re replacing the lower element, you’ll need to drain the whole thing.
