"Melvin came out promptly, completed a thorough walkthrough, and presented a very fair quote for our fence repair needs. He worked with us to identify multiple solutions at more-than agreeable pricing. We decided to go with a full replacement. The work was completed in under two days for our 130-foot fence, and they also cleaned up the yard. We are very satisfied with the work Barnett Fencing and Deck Restorations performed and the extremely fair price we paid."

"The service was excellent! Booked with no hitches and service time was on the dot. As a female, it was great to have a professional cone who does not give you the creeps and fully explained what he was going to do before doing at - no surprises on charges, is what I’m saying. I had lots of spring cleaning honey-dos that needed to be taken care of before family came in town to visit and Kenny was the BEST I’ve ever used and came highly recommended. My house exterior looks amazing! The driveway and back porch patio area were pressure washed, the gutters cleared and the downspout flushed, the roof was washed off and is even-colored now, and what I do have of vinyl on my predominantly-brick house was washed and looks good as new. No more cob webs and dirt that got splashed up from the recent rains, either! I cannot recommend Kenny with Hydro Pro Soft Wash enough!"

Deck Cleaning questions, answered by experts

The best way to clean your decking is to clear debris from the gaps between the boards, sweep the surface, rinse it, apply cleaner, rinse again, and let it dry fully. A homemade deck cleaner made of two gallons of warm water and 1/2 cup vinegar is a simple cleaning solution for both wood and composite decking. You can sprinkle baking soda on any spots with mold or mildew, then scrub the area and rinse clean.

Although composite decking is extremely durable, it’s also susceptible to extreme heat. Prolonged exposure to sunlight can cause fading, warping, and cracking. Composite also retains heat more than wood, which makes it dangerous to walk on in the summer. You can help prevent heat damage by only building with composite in shaded areas or using rugs to cover the hottest spots.

Be careful when choosing a product to help you remove ice from your wood deck. Never use sand, gravel, or salt, since these items can damage and scratch the wood. Instead, look for chemical de-icers that are marked as safe for wood decks or use hot water to melt snow and ice.

Yes, deck footings typically require an inspection before laying down concrete. While not all local building codes require footing inspection, proper placement ensures a safe and structurally sound deck. An inspector will verify that the deck can adequately hold what you put on top of it., and that the footings have been dug to the correct dimensions.

Yes, adding a composite deck, such as one made from Trex, can significantly increase your home's value. It is a valuable home renovation for recouping costs, with some estimates for return on investment (ROI) ranging between 60% and 70%. More recently, Remodeling's 2024 Cost vs. Value Report suggests a deck addition has an ROI of 82.9%, with an average resale value of nearly $14,600. A new deck makes your yard more functional, enhances the landscape's aesthetic, and can entice prospective buyers. The investment may have a higher return if the deck adds usable square footage to the property.
