"Natalie Reed was our consultant. She was knowledgeable about carpet types. She really listened to what we were looking for. She did an accurate measurement of our square footage. We had an estimate from another known local company that was 200 sq ft over what we actually have. Jesus and a helper did the installation. They were courteous and professional. Their workmanship was A+. We are very pleased."

"Mike was great to work with- was knowledgeable and helpful choosing the right carpet. No pressure to make a sale. Installation was done on time, and done well. I spoke with a total of four carpet companies, and only seriously considered MCD. Highly recommend this team. Dawn E"

Small jobs welcome

"Phil with University Professional was great. He was very responsive, right on time and worked extremely hard. Our carpets looked like new at the end. His price was also good (I had gotten a wide range of prices from others). I would highly recommend him and plan on using him again to stretch or replace some carpet."

Carpet Installation questions, answered by experts

A 65-oz. carpet is good, and in many cases, it indicates a premium carpet. Most carpets for homes should fall in the range of 40 to 60 ounces for face weight. If a carpet has a 65-oz. face weight, it is likely more durable and long-lasting than a similar carpet with a lower face weight. Carpet face weight is just one factor in determining a carpet’s quality.

Yes, installing laminate over carpet could negatively affect the resale value of your home. It’s no surprise that homebuyers prefer flooring that someone has installed according to industry standards. Laminate over carpet may raise concerns about the quality and stability of the flooring, impacting the overall perceived value of the property.

Carpet installation typically starts with removing the old flooring, preparing the subfloor, laying underpadding for cushioning, and securing the new carpet with tack strips, making precise cuts to fit room dimensions.

Yes, you can negotiate the purchase price of new carpet. You may also be able to negotiate installation costs or other fees in addition to the per-foot pricing of the carpet itself. You may have better luck negotiating with an independent retailer (as opposed to a big-box store), as they may have more discretion in pricing, but it’s always worth asking.

Acclimating laminate flooring cannot be rushed. Laminate flooring needs at least 48 hours to acclimate properly to its new environment, and being patient during this time can make installation go smoother because you will not be dealing with boards that have expanded or contracted during the shipping process. You will also be less likely to damage the boards during installation.
