"Tina Moreno knows her business. My yard is a half-acre and we hate fences. However, we want the ability to play with our Shiloh without restraints or to let him out for potty walks while I'm inside. We walked our backyard and determined the best start and stop points. After the installation, Tina worked with me and Shiloh with flags while he was wearing his collar. Second day, Shiloh was aware of the boundaries. We removed flags for mowing and never put them back. He remembers."

Small jobs welcome

"Jo did an awesome job on several projects, showing his wide variety of skills. He has done deck work for us, both concrete staining on popl decks and remodeling large wood decks. Jo is a meticulous painter, and understands the value in details. If your wooden fence or gate is in need of repair or install, Jo is the man to call! We've had him repair our own.. again, very skillfull in a lot of areas.. ive forgotten half the areas he has helped.. hes a skilled electrician as well, and bailed us out on some ceiling fans we were having issues with.. Jo is the man!!"

"Texas Forged Metals was responsive and did quality work. I needed my automatic gate repaired after not working for 2 years. After years of not working the gate had began rust and lean. They reset the gate to where it could shut again, fixed all my rust, and did a great job painting it. They replaced the motor and rerouted the power source from solar to a direct line my fuse box. I loved their work so much I brought them back to install an iron fence in my yard. The fence came out great! I highly recommend Texas Forged Metals."

"The crew did not arrive at the time indicated, however they worked late to complete the work in a single day. The only issue was with the new casing installation. The 45 degree seams were not aligned very well. Spoke with the company and they sent the installer back out to redo the casing. He was very thorough and spent longer than I expected to get the work done right. Casing still isn't perfect but it is much better and met my wife's standards. The rest of the work was done very well the first time. It has completely changed the look of the stairs and we are very happy with the final results."

Animal Fencing questions, answered by experts

Some stores sell smoke bombs to drive animals out of spaces, but we don’t recommend you use them, especially in an attic. The smoke can be toxic to humans or pets that may accidentally inhale it. Meanwhile, critters can easily escape the smoke by temporarily leaving the attic, only to return via their usual entry points after the smoke clears.

You’ll want to call a licensed and insured wildlife removal company that offers:

  • Full property inspection—indoor and outdoor

  • Proper animal identification

  • Written management plan with follow-up visits included

  • Humane removal techniques

  • Preventative exclusion measures

If it’s an emergency and you can’t wait, you’ll need to contact an emergency animal control company near you.

Foxes are primarily nocturnal, meaning you’re less likely to see one strutting onto your lawn in the middle of the day. However, daytime activity is more common if you have a female with her cubs on your property during the spring and summer. And you can see adaptable urban foxes at any time when regular food is available.

Squirrels tend to forage, traveling along roof and fence lines. To trap a squirrel, placing a baited trap on the roof near the point of entry is the best option. If you can see them going in and out or recognize the damage they might be causing to the exterior of your home, you can also try placing traps near those locations.

It can be difficult to know what type of animal is in your attic until you see it. But several clues can help you narrow down the suspects:

  • Sounds: Smaller animals like rats and mice make scurrying and tapping/gnawing sounds. Larger animals like raccoons and opossums make louder clambering noises. Also, note when animals are noisy: Squirrels are active during the day, while rats are busiest at night.

  • Droppings: Rats and mice leave small, rice-shaped droppings (the rat’s version is significantly larger). Bigger droppings belong to larger critters like raccoons. As long as you’re not squeamish, an image search can help you identify what you’re seeing in your attic.

When in doubt, take photos of damage or other evidence and show them to an experienced pest control pro.
