"I highly recommend Moses. From the beginning I felt he understood my vision. He was patient with us on timing and the guys worked hard to finish before our house warming party. They painted our white cabinets black and added gold hardware, painted our mantle and two bedrooms. We will use them again in the future for sure."

"They came quickly and gave us a comparable quote. They use quality paint and primer. They move furniture to the center of the room. Cover everything with plastic and cover the floors. They cover the floors with paper from the front door to all of the rooms. They arrive on time and are very professional and quiet. These guys know how to paint and do a great job. They clean up and take everything they used away. They leave the extra paint and leave the place as it was when they arrived but with fresh paint. You don't pay until they finish the work. I will use them for all of our future paint or staining projects. Jason and Maria are a good couple and they worked hard to create a great buisness of 16 years."

"Great! JTB Painting easily won our job on the basis of price and his reviews on Angie's List. He prepped and painted all exterior wood surfaces and trim on our house in Irving, TX. We found Jeff to be as good or better than his reviews. He gave us a great price, did excellent work prepping and painting our house, and completed the work with the time he said it would take. It was very hot outside, but he worked through the heat of the day to get the job done. My next-door neighbor was so impressed with the work Jeff did on my house, he hired JTB to do his house, too! Jeff is honest, hard-working, soft-spoken, does great work, and is as good as his word."

"Very reliable. When there was a problem with the paint, they contacted the paint store to find out that there was an issue and that it had been recalled. They even had the manager of the paint company come to my house to observe for themselves that it was a bad batch. They resolved the problem and re-painted my doors at no extra cost to me. Anthony was very apologetic and went to great lengths to correct the problem. I will definitely be using Pipes Painting again."

"Our project involved our shed and siding on our chimney being repainted. Unfortunately, the contractor they sent out did a subpar job painting initially, they had to come out a 2nd time to fix the 1st contractors work. Also, I have now noticed (a few months later after walking on my roof) that they never fully painted my siding on my chimney. 9/26/2020 Edit: As of recently after going through our options to address the issues with Josh the Operations Manager, we were able to come to a fair resolution, therefore I have updated my review by adding a star for the good customer service."

"The entire Certa Pro team supervised by Mario Mesa, was very polite, professional, extremely cooperative and very meticulous when it came to painting our home. We could not have asked for a better crew. They did an outstanding job. We would also like to thank Matt Unger our sales representative."

Painting questions, answered by experts

The best time to stain a fence is when the weather is dry and temperatures are between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Late spring, early summer, and fall are typically the best seasons for this project. You should avoid staining during very hot weather, like in the middle of summer, or when it is raining. Heat and moisture can cause the stain to dry unevenly. Likewise, if it's too cold, such as in winter or early spring, the stain may not be able to dry fully. Before you start, check the forecast to ensure there will be no rain and low humidity for at least a few days.

The longevity of paint on wood depends on factors like the quality of the paint, surface preparation, exposure to elements, and maintenance. Exterior paint on wood surfaces can last 5 to 15 years or more with proper care and maintenance. Interior paint tends to have a longer life span, often 10 years or more. Regular cleaning, touch-ups, and addressing any issues like peeling or cracking can extend the life of the paint.

Routine staining or sealing and periodic inspections to extend life.

Applying a sealer or topcoat after staining wood is highly recommended, though not always strictly required. A sealer protects the wood from moisture, UV rays, and weather-related issues, which is especially important for outdoor surfaces like decks and fences. It also enhances the stain's durability, prevents fading over time, and gives the wood a cleaner, more professional-looking finish. For some indoor applications, a sealer may not be necessary, depending on the type of stain used and the level of protection needed. It's always best to check the stain manufacturer's recommendations and consider the wood's intended use and exposure when deciding whether to apply a sealer.

The general consensus is that two coats of stain are required and since the cedar is siding, a third coat of sealant is always a good idea. This helps protect the wood and stain, so you won’t need to resand and restain for at least a decade. Each stain after the first will darken the wood, so be aware of that when choosing a colored stain.
