Small jobs welcome

"Excellent customer service! During our initial consultation Sam was punctual and demonstrated professionalism. He was very detailed with his inspection of our electrical project. Sam was honest with the challenges presented, discussing strategic planning and anticipating a situation or outcome with a resolution before it happens. We suspected it was going to be difficult cutting in to our existing exterior bricks and interior walls for this extensive electrical project. Sam is friendly and proactive. He included and coordinated a contractor along with his crew to come in and repair, patch, primer, paint and texture our wall in our estimate. No hidden charges. Sams integrity, knowledge, responsiveness and transparency put us at ease to move forward with his company. We felt comfortable throughout this project with Sam, his colleagues and their crew members. They patiently walked us through a smooth process from beginning to end. They exceeded our expectations! We highly recommend Sam!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Yes, an AFCI (arc fault circuit interrupter) outlet also has line and load terminals, although it uses different technology than a GFCI and offers a different kind of protection. AFCIs monitor for internal arc faults, a type of wiring problem that can start an electrical fire.

In the majority of cases, you can replace an outlet with a USB outlet. USB charging receptacles install in the same spot as standard outlets and any electrician worth their salt is more than familiar with the replacement process. Additionally, it’s possible to replace yourself, but only if you have prior experience with your home’s electrical system, as it requires handling of wires.

If you have a tank-type electric water heater, it runs regularly to keep the water at the desired temperature. If you live in a home where you don’t use much hot water, it could seem wasteful to run power to heat water that you’re using infrequently. You could save some power by using a smaller tank, insulating the tank, or lowering the temperature of the water heater.

GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, a standard safety addition to home power outlets. In rooms where moisture is more likely, like the bathroom and kitchen, GFCI outlets stop the current when certain kinds of shorts are detected, preventing shocks. Both GFCI and the similar AFCI (Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlets are polarized and have clear indicators on the receptacle where hot wiring should go.

You can run a small or basic standard-size refrigerator on a 15-amp circuit. But you should plug a modern, standard-size refrigerator into a 20-amp dedicated circuit. The refrigerator needs to be on a dedicated circuit, meaning it is the only appliance and outlet on that circuit breaker. This method prevents tripping the breaker and reduces the chance of an electrical fire
