"I needed to see a ceiling fan installed and the floor to ceiling height was 19.5 feet. Kyle is just awesome. He's very thorough and does what he says he will do. He is VERY straightforward. He helps keep the work area clean. He has no problem with DIY. Old man, asking a bunch of questions. He listened, and has no issue with explaining anything. If there's an adjustment to be made, he will make it right. He's more than happy to come back out at no additional cost .Nice that no additional call, and adjust things as needed. You can't go wrong with Jade electric. THEY ARE my electric repair go to."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Outdoor outlets should be at least 15-amp, but preferably 20-amp. The exact rating will depend on the electrical load of the devices that will be plugged into the outlet and the capacity of the circuit. It's important not to overload the circuit, which can cause safety hazards such as tripped breakers or electrical fires. In general, a circuit rated for at least 20 amps is recommended for outdoor outlets, while each outlet should be rated for at least 15 amps.

A circuit breaker flipping off when it detects an overloaded circuit isn’t a problem, but flipping the switch frequently can damage it and eventually cause an electrical hazard. If you’re going on a long vacation or leaving your home for the season, you should avoid turning off your circuit breaker to prevent electrical damage to your system.

Yes, you can use a dimmer switch with an LED fixture, but it must be a dimmer that is compatible with LEDs. Check the manufacturer’s information to ensure the dimmer works with LEDs, as not all dimmers are compatible with them. Many smart light switches accept LEDs, but be sure to read the details on the packaging.

If your outlet is testing fine but keeps tripping, that’s a sign your GFCI outlet is working, but there’s a problem somewhere else. Try plugging in different devices and see if the outlet keeps tripping. If it’s not the appliance that’s causing the issue, it could be a problem in your wiring. Faulty wiring can be a source of electrical fires and other serious problems. We recommend arranging an inspection by an electrician if an outlet appears to be working but keeps tripping.

How many string lights can be on one outlet depends on a number of varying factors, including the total wattage of your circuit, the type of lights, the energy needs of the lights, and cord specifications. It’s better to play it safe here to protect your circuit, so figure out the max wattage of your circuit, compare that to the lights, and move on from there. Generally speaking, LED string lights require less energy than incandescent bulbs, translating to a higher number of lights per circuit.
