"I had the best experience with Metroplex Pro Builders. Max (general contractor), very intent on meeting my needs! I had major work done on my pool, re-plastering, new tile, deck repairs, a complete overlay on the decking surrounding the pool, (house built in 1979). Max gave me exactly what I envisioned and the plaster color & new tile is beautiful! It’s a fresh new look! Gerardo, contractor who coordinated the workers for the pool activity, worked his best to add all the final touches, & Max made sure I was happy with ALL the results. Plastering the pool was an amazing thing to watch! I also had a beautiful shiny gray tile backsplash installed in my kitchen, adding the perfect touch to my existing black granite countertops, white cabinets and multi colored porcelain floors. I had such a hard time picking out my tile, but Max met at Floor and Décor and helped me arrive at my decision. I’m very happy with the final results and will be calling Max back for more updates next year! "

"With upcoming changes to my insurance premiums and several hailstorms since my roof was last replaced, I wanted to be proactive and have it inspected to ensure a claim wasn’t necessary before my deductible increased. Ivan responded quickly—coming out the very next day after I requested an appointment—and performed a thorough assessment of my roof. He provided a detailed inspection report along with a comprehensive breakdown of the roof’s current condition. Ivan explained that, considering its age, the roof is in good shape and does not warrant a claim at this time. His honest and professional approach was greatly appreciated, especially since previous companies had pushed for a full replacement without justification. Ivan’s transparency and integrity gave me confidence in his evaluation, and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy roofing professional. "

ACB Services are full service Spring Branch, TX Home Remodelers who take pride in a job well done. We settle for nothing but the best in order to deliver unbeatable service.

"I clearly had my project under the section ?Mount TV on wall?. I clearly stated on the listing that I needed a 65 inch tv MOUNTED on my wall with a tilt/swivel mount and an in wall tv power kit. The guy shows up an hour late, which I completely understood being the day before Thanksgiving, only to come in my house and act like he didn?t know the project was for mounting my tv. He said he thought it was just for the in wall power kit. Then he said he would do me a favor and charge me $100 more to mount the tv with the full motion mount, after quoting me $195 plus 4% fee for using a debit/credit card, bringing it up to over $300. I told him to get out of my house. He sends an email that states their business is of Christian brothers. I wonder if he understands that God doesn?t let people get away with deceptive practices, especially when using His name: Acts 5:3?5. Hopefully, this guy and his partners change their ways before it?s too late. Praying for those cheats! In Jesus? Name!"

"In August 2022, after hearing about DFW Improved on a home improvement radio show, we entered into two contracts with them for a roof replacement and interior water damage repair. These contracts were based on insurance-approved scopes following the 2021 ice storm. DFW Improved began the roof replacement project first. Following the replacement, the roof continued to leak due to their failure to replace the flashings. Despite corresponding work items in the insurance scope (confirmed later by the insurance adjuster's email), the DFW Improved salesperson insisted that flashing was not part of the roof. He threatened legal action if further payment was not made. Prior to this, they presented two identical model shingles as choices, which their own roof subcontractor on-site disclosed. Upon our inquiry via email, instead of addressing the issue, the salesperson accused us of defaming their company. Furthermore, they quoted $900 for a non-existent siding hole and estimated $25,000 for a bookcase, which their own designer valued at $6,000 to $7,000. While the roof leaking issue was still unresolved, DFW Improved began interior work. Instead of submitting the agreed supplement request as agreed, they skipped necessary steps to cut water-damaged drywall. To prevent wasted effort, we instructed workers to stop. The salesperson responded, stating that workers would not proceed with any work not approved by insurance. However, he emailed the insurance company claiming that the work had already been completed, causing significant confusion for us. During the halt period, we sent out numerous issues such as broken air pipes, cracked roof rafters, missing insulation, roof holes, missing felt paper, and a leaking roof. However, we received no response other than prevaricate explanations and demanding for money. We escalated to the DFW Improved upper manager who responded that they are their best team members and disregarded our request for an alternative project team. DFW Improved abandoned the projects and warranties, and initiated separation in December 2022. Both parties engaged in negotiations over separation costs. During this process, DFW Improved unexpectedly sent four individuals to our house, claiming to inspect texture work and demanding payment. Subsequently, DFW Improved placed a lien on our house, and their lawyer sent a demanding letter stating they would auction our house and (quote)“sue Vigorously” if payment was not made, despite the mediation/arbitration clause clearly outlined in the contracts. Under this pressure, we filed a claim in Tarrant County Small Claims Court, where the lien was placed. Later, their lawyer filed a motion to transfer the case to Collin County, where DFW Improved is based. We refused to comply with a demand for $5,000 and the confidentiality requirement during mediation. DFW Improved filed a new case simultaneously in the higher Tarrant County District Court, demanding a new amount of $59,845 and seeking to enforce the lien, providing no explanation for this amount. According to their co-owner's email, their accounting book calculated that we owed them a total of $1,260 (detailed below). During pre-mediation discussions, their lawyer attempted to justify their request for $8k, citing that a significant portion was allocated to attorneys' fees. We did not engage their lawyer to send us a threatening letter containing false statements about suing us without mediation. Their lawyer also declined $65 public mediator service provided by the Tarrant Small Claims Court. Additionally, they unilaterally escalated the dispute to a higher court. We have never been late with their payments. In fact, DFW Improved made a math error by crediting the blind work twice. When we brought this to their attention, DFW Improved spent extra time correcting the invoice, and their salesperson initiated an internal investigation. Any delay was certainly not caused by us. DFW Improved filed a lien attempting to collect the costs again, despite already receiving payment. See the invoice they submitted, which completely overlooks the $35,895.76 payment we made (supported by our bank transactions). —-------------The payment schedule on the contract has major math errors—--------- Payments for the work are due as follows: Contract Total $ 194,972.33 $ 19,497.23 deposit is due at initial design meeting.(10% of the Contract Total) 20% of the Contract Total is due at the preconstruction meeting. 30% of the Contract Total is due at start of drywall repair. ←– we requested halt at this phase and according to texas property code Sec. 28.003. Instead of assisting us with the aftermath of a natural disaster, DFW Improved attempted to extort money from us and our insurance provider. This has resulted in substantial legal fees, emotional stress, and significant delays in repairing our house, necessitating prolonged rental expenses. "Gerardo Rodriguez is a thoughtful, conscientious, and reliable general contractor. Our home sustained a large amount of damage in the early spring storms, and he not only rebuilt everything, but he built it better. It was a pleasure to work with someone who has pride in his workmanship and strives to make a stressful situation as bearable as possible."

Independently owned and operated construction/ remodeling company, specializing in making your ideas a reality! We are willing and able to take on all projects big or small. Ready to start your project from the design phase and see it through all the way to the end, work together to make you happy!

"I recently hired KG Construction to remodel our shower, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. From start to finish, the experience was seamless and professional. They were punctual, respectful of our space, and incredibly detail-oriented. The craftsmanship is outstanding—the tiles are perfectly aligned, the grout lines are clean and consistent, and the overall look completely transformed our bathroom. They also took the time to answer our questions, helped us choose the right materials, and kept us informed throughout the entire process. It’s rare to find a contractor who combines skill, reliability, and great communication, but KG Construction truly delivered on all fronts. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality tile work, and I’ll definitely be calling them for future projects."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Metal stud framing parts include the studs themselves, upper and lower tracks that act as top and bottom wall plates, various angle fasteners and clips, screws for fastening pieces togeher, metal straps, c-channel supports, and thicker steel supporting structures. Roof framing metal components include pre-fabricated trusses, heavy-gauge stud pieces, and various plates and fasteners.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.

You may need a permit to install your window seat. Even though it's an indoor modification, some municipalities require permits for any built-ins added to homes. Check with your carpenter or, if you're DIY-ing, do some research on your city's requirements.

Bow windows need support because they are large and extend out from the exterior wall of the home. Bow windows may extend 1 foot to several feet from the outside of the home, so you’ll need to provide additional support to handle this weight. A window contractor will be able to provide the proper amount of support for your new bow window.
