"Jose and his crew arrived promptly, were personable and polite, finished up more work than I would have thought possible, and cleaned up impeccably. They took two large trees to the ground, hauled away the wood, and even blew the chainsaw debris off of the roof. I have asked them to give me quotes on two additional projects."

"At the end of March I called two foundation companies for estimates on repairing a new crack in the brick on the side of my home. The first was Hercules Foundation Repair and the second one was Pier Pro. Collin from Hercules came and measured and gave me his estimate. He was very professional and told me what needed to be done. Before he left my house, he told me that even if I chose a different company if I had any problems to feel free to call him. The next day Mike with Pier Pro came by. Against my better judgment I gave the job to Pier Pro. After the job was completed, I had new cracks down the back side of my house. I have two large cracks in the walls of my bedroom and the wall lifted a good half inch off the floor in my bathroom. I called Mike to come back and after looking at it said there was nothing wrong with my house. He said that he would put caulk in the space between the floor and wall and it would look good. It has been over three months and I havenâ t heard anything back from him. Last week I swallowed my pride and called Hercules. Allen answered and patiently listened to my problems and made an appointment to see what was done. His measurements showed that the floor of one bedroom was raised two inches too high and the other bedroom was one inch too high. His crew came two days later and FIXED it! I canâ t say how much I appreciate the kindness and compassion that Allen and his company has shown me. It is so hard to admit that you have been taken advantage of an having someone so willing to help make it right is priceless. I still need to do cosmetic repair cover the cracks but that is easy thanks to Allen Alexander and his company"

"Da brothers removed decomposed granite from my sloped property and installed shredded cedar mulch. They were so careful with the numerous plants, I have in place. They are so polite and the bid they gave me was very reasonable. They didn't hesitate to do other projects I asked for. I highly recommend them and I will call them for other projects. Thank you Da Brothers. I'm a very happy customer."

Masonry questions, answered by experts

Keep fast-setting mortar mix and hydraulic cement on hand, as standard mortar cures too quickly in the intense Texas heat. You also need a masonry sealant rated for high UV exposure and a flexible crack filler compatible with porous limestone. For cleaning and inspection, stock wire brushes to remove caliche deposits and a flashlight to check retaining wall weep holes for blockages.

Helpful?

Hidden complications during masonry work in Marble Falls stem from local geology and weather. Excavating foundation areas uncovers hard limestone ledges or unstable caliche layers requiring specialized equipment. Expansive clay soils shift and crack existing structures, expanding the project scope. Flash flooding near the Llano River watershed also reveals hidden water damage that professionals must repair before proceeding with new construction.

Helpful?

Start your masonry work by inspecting and sealing your foundation perimeter. Shifting soils and flash flood risks in Marble Falls make early crack repairs essential. Next, assess any sloped retaining walls for leaning or mortar failure to prevent safety hazards. Finally, check your chimney crown and outdoor stone structures. Repoint compromised mortar joints immediately to prevent severe water damage during heavy rains.

Helpful?

Stair-step cracking in your stone veneer indicates shifting clay soils, which heavily complicates masonry work. Properties on slopes face drainage issues, requiring professionals to account for uphill water runoff. Additionally, older homes built with native TX limestone feature historic lime-based mortar. Applying modern cement to these older walls causes severe damage, so contractors must carefully match the original materials during repairs.

Helpful?

Your foundation and retaining walls require frequent masonry work due to shifting clay soils and hydrostatic pressure from heavy TX rains. Exterior chimneys also need regular repointing because of intense sun exposure and seasonal freeze-thaw cycles. Finally, inspect your stone patios, fire pits, and limestone veneers. The intense heat and moisture fluctuations degrade mortar joints on these outdoor structures over time.
