"Bottom line: I would hire this company again. Koala Insulation came and inspected my attic spaces with a infrared scanning tool. They looked at the level of insulation and found areas where the heat was penetrating more. They recommended specific actions and gave me a number of quoted options on the spot. I was then able to book the service within days of the initial visit. The technicians came and performed the service professionally and made sure to involve me where needed. I would hire them again."

"I hired Be My Guest to do a yard clean-up for my house before it went on the market. I had contacted previous companies for estimates and received ridiculous quotes of $1100-1600 to clean my front and back yard which included trimming bushes and tree limbs, raking leaves and spreading mulch that I purchased. Fernando, the owner of Be My Guest, quoted me $300. Deal! As I shared my to-do list of projects to prepare my house to list, I found out that the companies abilities extended past yard work. I ended up hiring them for $1100 to clean the yard, paint the house and front door, replace the expansion boards in the driveway and walkway with cement, fix the cracks along the cement foundation from the house settling and paint the back porch, stain the cement floor/steps, paint the garage and stain the floor. I also ended up getting full sod for the back yard, which cost met $850 total including labor. Other companies were quoting me $1100-1300 for a back yard that is part of a .11 acre total property! The projects soon moved inside and I hired them the paint the baseboards and trim, paint one room, replace the flooring in the kitchen and bathrooms, fix laminate pieces in the current flooring and fix moulding at the top of my kitchen and bathroom closets. The work took over a week to complete and time for completion was underestimated a couple of times, but I was extremely pleased with the work overall. My house is now move-in ready and the realtors who visited said it looked like a model home. Exactly what I wanted! I have a list of projects to begin at the new house and have already scheduled Fernando to start next week, including yard work and new fencing that will be over 400 feet. I often get mistaken as a naive female who doesn't do her research on projects and costs and some contractors/owners I've contacted in the past to get estimates see dollar signs when I answer the door. Fernando didn't treat me that way and it put him above the others. I highly recommend Be My Guest and Fernando and his team. He was fair, open to changes or add-ons to your list without gouging you price wise and they do great work."

"I had a pretty good experience with this company from start to finish.  They were actually recommended by another insulation company who did not have all the materials to do what proved to be a rather complicated insulation job.
Our recently purchased 1950's house has a converted attic with knee-walls upstairs (provides no backing to support most insulation systems).  Some walls were partially open due to a complete new re-wire.  (I left wire-runs exposed to avoid possible drilling into cables.)  Payless insulation was able to devise an insulation system that would work within these constraints.  Payless thoroughly vacuumed out old insulation (matted and dirty from rodents which had, at some point in history, taken up residence in the crawl spaces) prior to blowing in the new Cel-bar.  The improvement to the house temperature was quite noticeable the following day.  (Upstairs results were less noticeable, but that is likely in part due to old single-pane windows which we have not yet replaced.)
I realize I will probably find I need better ventilation in attic spaces as well as new windows to appreciate the full effect of insulation.
Towards the end of the job, I did get the impression that the crew was rushing to finish up so as not to have to return a second day (as initially scheduled).  There were a couple of very minor oversights -- negligible for the size of the job.  But when I discovered a real concern a couple days after the job (attic insulation was blown up and covering the only attic ventilation -- two small gable vents -- in a very tight, and no longer accessible space) a member of the crew returned to address it (which needed to be done from outside on a very tall ladder!)  He spent a fair amount of time insuring that all was right.  I am happy with the final results.
Everyone working with Payless Insulation was professional, gracious, caring, and took the time to ensure that I was 100% satisfied with the final outcome.   This was a complicated installation, and they did a good job.

UPDATE:
I am lowering the grade to a "B" based on some subsequent observations.  I had expressed concern that there was no blocking between floor joists where they ran into the uninsulated crawl-space.  I was concerned that settling of blown-in insulation in the un-conditioned crawl space might permit unconditioned air to flow between floors of house.  While Payless insisted there would be no settling, this has in fact occurred (either that or nowhere near enough insulation was initially installed).  Furthermore, a representative from my A.C. company recently explained that the install was regardless inadequate without some form of vapor barrier -- the insulation is only like a "cigarette filter" without a barrier -- and that convection currents would regardless cause air exchange between the insulated and non-insulated spaces.   I am a little disappointed to find that my expensive insulation is not functioning as it could/should."

Small jobs welcome

"Davis Insulation did a good and fast job of cleaning out the old insulation and blowing in the new. Unfortunately, I did not do a walk around the house when they finished, and I found insulation in my garage and yard after they left. I asked them to come back and clean, and they said **hey would squeeze me in** ut they never came, so I had to sweep it up myself and rake it out of my yard."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

Mineral wool has an excellent life expectancy of up to 50 years, provided it's kept dry and free of pests. Compared to fiberglass, with a life span of 20 to 30 years, mineral wool stacks up well for long-term cost savings. Sheep wool maintains a similar life span to fiberglass, while estimates for hemp wool insulation life expectancies are all over the board, ranging anywhere from 20 to 100 years.

The ideal temperature for your garage in the winter is between 40 and 68 degrees Fahrenheit. Maintaining a minimum temperature of at least 40 to 50 degrees is crucial to prevent pipes, liquids, and other items from freezing. Low temperatures can also drain your car battery, so keeping the garage stable is vital for your vehicle. While the lower end of the range protects your belongings, the higher end is based on your personal preference for a comfortable space. If you struggle to keep the temperature from dropping below 40 degrees, consider installing a garage heater.

DIY insulation installation is feasible, particularly for basic rolls or batts, if you have the right protective gear and knowledge. However, hiring a professional ensures even, full coverage for maximum efficiency.

No, you shouldn’t wrap a towel, old T-shirt, or other porous fabric around your faucets. These materials absorb water, which can make your faucet more likely to freeze. Instead, you want to use waterproof, insulative covers that can seal tightly around the spigots for the best protection against frozen outdoor faucets and pipes.

If you plan to heat or cool your garage, you’ll need to insulate the garage ceiling. Insulating your garage ceiling will make your garage much more energy efficient and save on heating and cooling costs. Not only does insulation make your garage more energy efficient, it helps reduce noise and can extend the life of your garage roof. You can use fiberglass, cellulose, mineral wool, or spray foam insulation for this project.
