"The crew was a bit sloppy when Joe wasn't around, but he had them return to re-do a few places and clean off areas where the concrete/mortar should not have been placed. There wasn't anything than couldn't be fixed."

"Josh did an awesome job, literally carving out tons of solid rock on a steep hillside, enough so that I could build a barn and pen for my horses, and then hauled in tons of road base, man sand and top sand. We never dreamed what a monumental task it was going to be until we were too far into it to turn back. But he came through for us! Thanks Josh!"

"The Granitite Man was professional, his bid was in line with the bids I received from other granite installers; however, I based my decision not to use his services because I had a referral from a personal friend on the granite installer.  Otherwise, I would have probably used the Granite Man.  He seems very competent.

Small jobs welcome

"Our backyard tree area needs a major do-over. After years of neglect, weeds grew through. Besides, the yard is on the lower side of the slope, so rainwater gushing through washed away the grass and exposed bare ground. We talked to many landscaping designers; most suggested grass with stronger roots. Amy advised a clever and beautiful design to address the drainage problems. The idea is to put in a dry river bed along the waterway, so rather than fight against nature, we go along with it. She planted various flowers along the river bed. This solves the problem and also adds beauty to the yard. The materials she selected are beautiful and high quality. They compliment the house. Amy's team is hard-working and very efficient. Removing the weed, laying out the dry river bed, and installing the grass only took them three days to complete. I highly recommend Amy and her crew for any landscaping projects."

Fountains questions, answered by experts

Consider the pros and cons of installing a water fountain in your backyard:

Pros

  • Fountains can add beauty to your backyard.

  • Creates a relaxing space to enjoy in your yard.

  • Water features can add more value to your home.

Cons

  • Regular maintenance is necessary.

  • Upfront and maintenance costs can escalate quickly.

  • Space may not permit you to install the fountain you want.

While they’re popular and have a lot of pros, the cons of river rocks include the following:

  • River rocks don’t break down or provide nutrients to plants.

  • These stones can get hot and scorch nearby plants.

  • River stones may heat the surrounding soil to inhospitable temperatures.

  • Rocks can block rainwater from seeping into the ground if installations are too thick or tightly packed.

Most downsides occur when using river rock as mulch in gardens and flower beds. However, you can still incorporate river rocks into your landscape as long as you use them in the correct ways.

After you fill in your pool, you can add trees and plants that help stabilize the soil. You might decide not to fill it in at all and find another use for the sunken area instead. A few ideas include creating a seating area or garden inside the empty pool. Depending on its size, you could create a place to roller-skate or install basketball hoops for an unconventional court.

In short, yes, a pond can add to your home’s value. However, whether it adds value will depend on the condition and aesthetic of your pond. Having this feature already built into a yard’s home can be appealing to homebuyers who value its aesthetic and would prefer not to build it themselves. But if it is not kept in good condition, it could turn buyers away.

Pond installation costs typically range from $1,500 to $10,000. The final price depends on several factors, including the pond's size, the materials used, excavation requirements, and any additional features such as waterfalls, lighting, or specialized habitats for fish like koi.
