"I was pleasantly surprised by how well the project turned out. The finished project truly exceeded my initial expectations. The crews were friendly and courteous and did a wonderful job even in some very difficult weather conditions. They did a roof and outdoor patio addition to match my existing home, added recessed lighting, outdoor ceiling fans, expended the concrete patio, and installed stone wrapped columns. I would definitely recommend them to anyone and would hire them again for future projects."

"We hired this company based on all the reviews and they are all spot on! MR Elite Construction (Silver) met and exceeded every expectation. We actually just told him what we wanted, showed him a few pictures and he took it from there. He listened to our specific needs and built exactly what we asked for and then some! Talk about attention to detail! Everything went like clockwork - brought the materials, crew showed up every day at 8:30am, worked until 6 or even a bit later, and in 4 days, we had this beautiful result. It was a pleasure to have them here. They work hard, personable, cleaned up everything - just a fantastic job! The total cost for the project was very reasonable as well. We cannot give them enough praise. Thank you for a great experience and a beautiful deck! HIGHLY recommend!!!"

"We hired Diamond Decks for a full patio extension along with the installation of an outdoor kitchen. Tony was absolutely fantastic! He listened to what we wanted, provided open two way communications where ideas and suggestions were interchanged, then proceeded to execute and deliver a final product that matched what we envisioned plus exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended!"

"They were able to save me some money. So we got what we wanted and the work will start in about 5 weeks, They were in contention with an outside contractor who was also very good. He would have built the deck with a steel sub structure which would have been nice but was to expensive. If he would have stayed in our price range we would have gone with the outside contractor"

"Handyman Carpentry came through for me and my family! Our door was kicked in and I needed to feel safe immediately. Mr. Kevin came through with a fast response, and great work. He kept in contact throughout the entire time! Reasonable and fair pricing. This was an emergency for me and Mr. Kevin and his squad came through. We will definitely be calling on him again for more carpentry and home improvement jobs! Thank you and I pray nothing but growth and success for you and your business!!"

Woodworking questions, answered by experts

If you don’t have a coping saw, you can use an angle grinder to cope crown molding, but it takes a little more precision. Place your molding down on your workbench, angle the grinder at a 45-degree angle toward the molding, and back cut the wood. You’ll need to carefully angle your grinder to accommodate the curves in the wood, and aim to remove around 1 inch from the profile of the molding.

Yes, Corian® and other solid surface countertops can be cut with standard woodworking tools like a circular saw or a jigsaw, but using the correct blade is crucial for the best results.

The recommended blade is a tungsten carbide-tipped blade, often called a solid-surface planer or triple chip grind blade. This type of blade is hard enough to cut through the material effectively. For a jigsaw, a fine-tooth down-cutting blade should be used.

It is important to note that a diamond blade is not necessary. Diamond blades are designed for harder materials like natural stone, concrete, or brick, and Corian is not a natural stone.

Using blades designed for wood is not recommended as they can cause microfractures that weaken the countertop's edges. While a tungsten carbide blade provides a much cleaner cut, the resulting edge will still be rough and must be sanded and smoothed to prevent microfractures from developing over time.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

Many contractors prefer checks because they’re easy to track and have no associated fees. However, many also accept credit cards (though they might add a fee to cover their processing costs).

It is common for a contractor to ask for a down payment before starting a project, especially for jobs that require purchasing materials and equipment or hiring a crew. The deposit amount can range from 10% to 50% of the total job cost. While a request for up to 50% is not unusual, a contractor should not ask for more than that, and you should never pay for a project in full before the work has begun. To protect yourself, always discuss payment terms before starting and have a written contract that outlines the project timeline and expectations. Additionally, be sure to hire reputable contractors and check their licensing and insurance before the project begins.
