"James did an awesome job coming to the house and reviewing our existing screens and recommending replacements. They did a fantastic job. So much so that we asked him to come back and redo the screen doors to our patio in a solar shade. They turned out amazing. Our house has never looked so good and the solar screens work great cutting the heat and sun. Definitely recommend them. Great customer service!"

"By far the best customer service Ive experienced. Nick remodeled and extended my master bathroom. Was on time and kept his word on everything. Went out of his way to fix some additional things that I didnt know I needed for free! Will definitely be calling again for more remodeling."

"Ybarra did a wonderful job in the bathroom. The new shower is really the showcase of the improvement, and the new light fixtures look very nice. Really good work there. Ybarra also painted our cabinets in the kitchen, installed a new farmhouse style kitchen sink and granite countertop. Also a big improvement in the laundry room, where Ybarra installed new storage cabinets. Really looks good and now we have adequate storage space in closed cabinets instead of the old open shelves above the washer and dryer. One element that could have been improved would be to have more communication with us about who would be working and when. The project took time and we didnâ t speak the same language as most of the workers, so good communications along the way is very important to us.Ybarra also expanded our patio and replaced an old wooden fence with a new wrought iron fence that looks much better and should last much longer."

"We had the pleasure to work with Ybarra Professional Builders on back to back projects in our home. Both came out better than we could have envisioned! Our first project was our hallway bathroom. Our project manager Ryan was always on top of things and very attentive to detail. He was always in communication with us and very responsive. The work crew was professional and courteous at all times. They completed the project in the timeframe we discussed and were so very pleased with the final product. Because we were so pleased with the bathroom remodel, we asked Ryan to help us with a kitchen remodel. This was a much bigger project and had more details in scope. I am happy to say Ryan and his team maintained the same quality, service and attention to detail as mentioned previously. Pretty impressive as this was a much larger project. We would recommend Ybarra to looking for their next home project. A special thank you to Robert and Isaac from the work crew."

"A car recently hit the stainless steel handrail, and it held up surprisingly well. The company that installed it was able to quickly replace the damaged section. It looks as good as new. I'm impressed by the durability and quality and would recommend it."

Patio Covers questions, answered by experts

Hurricane fabric is a temporary form of hurricane protection that offers an alternative to boarding up windows or installing traditional storm panels. Unlike hurricane screens, which are permanently attached to your home, hurricane fabric is installed over your windows and other openings before a storm.

In terms of effectiveness, hurricane fabric is tested and proven to protect homes from Category 5 hurricanes, which can have winds over 157 miles per hour. When installed properly, it is designed to block the majority of wind and rain and protect against water, debris, and projectile damage.

While the fabric is exceptionally durable, windows can still break if hit directly by flying debris at high velocity. However, it is a good protective measure against an impending storm. For comparison, hurricane fabric is more protective and durable than hurricane window film. While boarding up windows is easier than installing the fabric, it is more labor-intensive and requires storing heavy plywood.

To further increase the chances of your windows surviving a hurricane, you can take additional steps like securing outdoor items, elevating HVAC units, and fortifying your home's foundation.

The longest-lasting awning materials include vinyl, polycarbonate, and polyester for their durability and cleanability. Other materials like canvas and metal can last a long time, but may wear out faster. The key to getting the longest life from your awning material is to maintain it properly by cleaning yearly, keeping debris from gathering on it, and protecting it during stormy weather or high winds by retracting it or moving it to a protected area.

Aluminum patio roofs can make noise during rainstorms, though how much noise they make depends on how heavy it’s raining and if the roof is insulated or not. Light rain falling on your roof might sound soothing but if you live in an area with serious and consistent rainfall, the novelty of the sound might wear off. In any case, the rain you'll hear shouldn't sound louder than a normal conversation or air conditioner, about 50 dB to 55 dB.

It’s best to opt for a lightweight roof, as a heavy roof adds a lot of weight and pressure to the support posts and hardware and destabilizes the structure. Vinyl is a good, lightweight option, as is a nice open trellis, louvered aluminum or vinyl slats, or fabric panels. Clear polycarbonate is another great option that offers seamless shelter and additional UV protection without completely obscuring the sunshine. You can also choose retractable coverings or an awning that you only use in wet weather or when you need additional shade.

A retractable awning won’t necessarily increase your home’s value very much, but it can offer a boost of aesthetic appeal to potential buyers. In the long-term, however, a well-placed awning will save you money on cooling and protect your deck and outdoor furniture from sun exposure during the hot summer season.
