The only disappointment we had is we specifically stated we would be installing a new tree in the exact same spot as the tree that was removed/stump ground, but once the time came for the tree to be installed, we were informed by the nursery that our stump grind was not nearly deep enough, and needed to be at least 24" deep, not the 4-6" that was performed by Dallas Tree Surgeons. Relocating the new tree was ultimately the route we took, but it would have been good had Dallas Tree Surgeons advised that their stump grinding is actually not deep enough for a replacement tree in the same spot, as we told them we wanted. Minor inconvenience of an otherwise fine service. Delivery of the tree was scheduled for Nov 18. First Delivery attempt: I had previously scheduled to have a tree planted from another nursery, but canceled and went with treeland because their trees were much cheaper. As a result of this, I already had the utilities marked, so I didn't bother to call Texas811. A couple of days before the delivery, treeland calls to ask for the Texas811 report number (or something to that effect), and I told them I had not called them since the flags were still in the ground from the last time the service was marked. Treeland says I need to have the utilities marked again, and forced a reschedule of the tree planting. Second Delivery attempt: Texas 811 marks my utilities again. The crew shows up two hours early, and I'm still at work. I get a call from treeland, and they say that the crew reports that it is raining heavily at my house and they need to reschedule. My neighbor reports that the treeland truck is outside of my house for a while, and it didn't rain that afternoon... Third delivery attempt: Texas811 marks my utilities yet again. More flags, and more spray paint. Treeland calls and wants to reschedule due to the recent ice storm, weather is lousy, streets are iced over. Completely understandable. Delivery is rescheduled for Dec 14. Fourth delivery attempt: Texas811 marks my utilities yet again. More flags, and more spray paint. The crew arrives earlier than the scheduled time, but I am home since it is on a Saturday.. They dig the hole, and plant the tree. All seems well, until closer inspection the next day. I found three good-sized branches broken on one side (just noticed a fourth broken branch today), and several smaller broken branches. Upon telling Derek about this, he offers to have his crew come out Dec 21 and cut the damaged branches off. I state that I'm out of town that day, and I'd like to be there when the tree is pruned. He responds back with where I can prune them myself (I had provided pictures of the breaks). This whole process would have been A-OK (aside from the constant spray painting of my front yard) had the delivery crew not butchered my tree. Loading and unloading the tree into the delivery truck several times probably didn't help matters much. I wouldn't have wasted my time driving up to their nursery to pick out a nice tree had I known it would be so roughly handled. 5-10 years from now it probably won't matter as the tree fills in, but that isn't the point. I paid to have the tree professionally planted to avoid this sort of problem. While Derek was responsive to my emails complaining about the damage to the tree, not once did he offer an apology. I'm kicking myself for not closely inspecting the tree before they planted it, as I would have refused delivery.

They had quite an assortment. I had my measurements in hand and made some choices with the help of a young man on Saturday. He was extremely helpful and moved several stacks of boulders to get to mine, with a forklift of course. Today is Monday and they were just delivered by a very nice delivery guy. I listened to his expertise in placing them. He had some good insight. When it came to the two larger ones, they would not fit through my backyard gate. Yikes! The driver made suggestions on how I can get the boulders into my back yard. Having never done this before and also new to the area I was at a loss at what to do. He had good ideas and I contacted a nursery that could help me. All in all a very good experience."},"url":"https://www.angi.com/companylist/us/tx/mckinney/jbs-express-reviews-3505696.htm"},"position":5},{"@type":"ListItem","item":{"@type":"LocalBusiness","name":"CheckMark Landscape","address":{"@type":"PostalAddress","addressRegion":"TX","addressCountry":"US"},"review":{"@type":"Review","author":{"@type":"Person","name":"Vicki F."},"reviewBody":"Out of all of the landscape companies I got bids from, Mark was the only one who listened to what I said and came back with a plan that was an excellent starting point. After a visit to the nursery, we made a few modifications and there was an additional tree added near completion to balance out the design. I told Mark I wanted to look different from everybody else on the block, but not so different that is was a stark contrast. One year later, we still receive complements from our neighbors. Right after completion, it was amazing how many people stopped in front of our house when driving past. Mark was able to handle my "what goes in front of the picture window" issue/waffling with patience, grace and a decent dollop of joking. One thing Mark and his team did was to trench the edge of the landscape beds. We love the clean and natural edge that gives to the flower beds. We would definitely use Mark again and would highly recommend him. In my search for trees, I called a nursery that's actually closer to my home than Hickory Creek Nursery. That Nursery was not helpful with providing tree prices or giving an idea of what they would charge to remove the root ball of the old trees. As a matter of fact, I was told if I wanted an estimate I could try to flag one of their trucks down if I saw one in my neighborhood. Thanks for nothing "little guy"
When I called Hickory Creek Nursery I was quickly given tree prices over the phone and an estimate of the charges associated with removing the existing root balls. I wasn't sure if they would deliver to my area but they said they would. I drove out the same day picked out my trees and paid. We decided on a mutually agreeable date for the install.
On the date of the install they showed up and worked very hard at removing the root balls. Because the root balls were in my fenced backyard they were not able to use the big tractor and had to do a lot of hand digging. I expected to have them adjust the price of the removal because of the work involved but they didn't.
They installed my new trees and were on their way. In my opinion, Hickory Creek Nursery is the epitome of the "little guy." They go the extra mile to earn your trust and your business. There is a local nursery closer to my home but I'll drive to Hickory Creek Nursery for all of my plant needs in the future. "This company is a total scam, unprofessional. Initial contact Alfonso comes off as an expert but then communication is lackadaisical, the work was hasty and they drove off not completing the job. Would not provide proper receipt documentation. Would not recommend."

FAQs for greenhouse and nursery service projects in Lowry Crossing, TX
Buying plants from a nursery is one thing, but ensuring that they are properly planted is another. While you might not need to hire a landscaper for every plant that you buy from a nursery, it’s a great idea to have their expertise and experience to plant larger items, like burlapped trees or specialty plants like rose bushes. Even better, before making a trip to a nursery to buy new plants, consult a local landscaper to test your soil for pH levels, soil texture, and phosphorus and potassium levels to help determine the best plants for your area.
Garden nurseries offer many plants to make your home and garden flourish. In-container plants are one option, including perennials, annuals, and small shrubs or trees. Large hedge plants and roses are called bare-root plants, meaning they have not been potted. Finally, you will see some burlapped plants, typically larger trees and shrubs with burlap wrapping around the bottom.
The best time to plant is between spring and autumn. Springtime weather is typically mild and is when nurseries start to bloom. When the summer weather arrives and it’s hot out, it’s best to avoid planting bare-root plants, but you can still plant many in-container varieties. The first sign of fall is another great opportunity to plant biennials if you live in southern states, or a lovely vegetable garden up north.
If you’re hiring a landscaper to plant the garden of your dreams, you do not need to provide them with plants that you bought yourself from a nursery. While you certainly can provide your landscaper with plants, keep in mind that some nurseries provide discounts to landscaping companies, therefore potentially lowering your materials cost. Beyond the cost of the plants themselves, you need to have additional materials like topsoil and mulch for the project. Most likely, your landscaper can get a discount on these materials as well, so it’s worth speaking with them before making any large purchases.
While there are over 400,000 different flowering plants worldwide, there are five main types of flowers. These flower types are based on their lifecycles, giving each type a unique personality. These types are:
Annuals, which complete their entire life cycle within a single growing season.
Perennials, which the tops die off in the winter but regrow in spring.
Biennials, which complete their entire life cycle within two years.
Hybrids, which exhibit either annual or perennial behaviors depending on location
Flowering shrubs, which are small to medium-sized perennial woody plants, such as shrubs or evergreens.
