"We recently had a chimney fire in our home, I contacted SafeFlue in Dallas, TX to provide a quote to replace all 4 fire proof panels in our fireplace box. They sent Nate out to provide us a quote. His quote and SafeFlue's price was $3,000.00 less than two other companies we contacted. Rafel and Kevin were our technicians that installed our new fireproof panels a few weeks later, they did an awesome job and left no mess behind in our home. This is our new fireplace company for our chimney cleanings and maintenance."

"Carlos at Complete Tree Services Inc was a pleasure to work with. He was the total package from the initial consultation the completion of the job. He knows his stuff. His landscapers were easy to work with also. I am such a happy camper with this company and will be calling them again for a couple of future projects I want done."

Customers say: True professional

"Chris and his brother were very professional and timely with the work they did installing flagstone in our backyard. We had them mortar and gout flagstone to make a patio and walkway. Chris did a good job keeping me informed when he would start and what time he would be back the next day. Took three days to complete the entire project. They did a good job for the price, which was way lower then a lot of other places I called. Only small issue I had was the amount of concrete dust left over, but that is expected for a project like this. Overall they did good work at a competitive p[rice and I will definitely use them again."

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

A chimney liner isn’t required for an outdoor fireplace; you don’t technically need one if the masonry chimney uses the proper dimensions and is built to code. However, a chimney liner does serve as a protective coating for the flue. Adding a liner could improve performance, safety, and durability. In short, while not necessary, it wouldn’t hurt.

According to the National Fire Protection Association’s Code NFPA 25 (titled “Standard for the Inspection, Testing, and Maintenance of Water-Based Fire Protection Systems”), private fire hydrants must undergo inspection once per year, with an accompanying flow test and any necessary maintenance performed on the same schedule. Keep in mind that your town, city, or county may adopt more or less strict testing requirements.

You should change the batteries in your smoke detectors at least once per year. Mark it on your calendar or make it a holiday or birthday tradition so that you always remember it. You should also be testing your smoke alarms monthly to ensure they’re working properly and can alert you in case of an emergency.

Electrical fires are unique from other fire types because they have the potential to deliver electric shocks in addition to being on fire. Avoid serious injury from possible electrical emergency situations by avoiding the use of water, foam-based fire extinguishers, wet-chemical fire extinguishers,  flour, or baking powder to put out an electrical fire.

Although you can put a smoke detector on a shelf, the NFPA recommends mounting one on the ceiling or a wall (within 12 inches of the ceiling). If you place your smoke alarm on a shelf, ensure it’s away from drafty, damp, or dusty areas and not near cooking appliances, heat sources, or fluorescent lights.
